Oh yeah looked up the ending and uh...nobody on here should waste their time with this film lol Spoiler Just a fantasy for a black woman to see a black man choose her over his white wife and two kids, even worse it's suggested that the white wife is inferior because she never gave him male sons. TRASH!
I have been trying to tell people for Y-E-A-R-S about the Netflix business model. I pay for Netflix a few months a year and then I turn it the fuck off lol. I ride with Prime Video, MAX and Paramount+ with Showtime and that's all I pay for. With TUBI and FreeVee and now PLEX there's enough free material to enjoy that you can hardly watch every in the time you have free.
It’s not really the end the movie is actually part of a series. This is one of the four parts of season one. Season two is supposed to be filming later this year and coming out next year. You’re looking at it through the American eye lens. It’s a South African film. Look at it from the perspective of African society. Black man in a black country in a highly patriarchal society. Marries a white woman and has no sons. Of course the woman is going to be blamed.
Yeah but that doesn't mean I have to watch and support it, Spoiler the movie clearly wants him to be with the black woman and is saying it's more "noble" and proper. Who gives a shit about what South African culture is? We gotta stop letting them say this about black men and white women that their unions are inherently unnatural and even evil. Unless this series ends with him going back to the white women why watch it? Yeah after Stranger Things ends I'm cutting off my subscription I watch Tubi, HBO and Hulu more than I watch Netflix at this point. Sure Bridgerton is solid but I can just watch that at my neighbors house when it comes out.
I'm watching "My Life is Yours" on Tubi right now. This film is so low budget, I'd be fair to describe it as an "Amateur-shot film". This film makes makes all those Lifetime/Hallmark channel-type romcom films that have been mentioned in this thread, seem like big budget theatrical films. The audio is mixed horribly. Y'all know how I always complain when the black male co-lead in films mentioned in thread doesn't have leading man looks? This film is the worst offender of this. The black male lead is a washed Unc with a beer belly & bald head. Despite that multiple attractive female characters seem to be into him.
You are right . . . it's not a great recommendation but it qualifies so I put it out there lol. I never did finish it myself Try "Black Shampoo" because that's a better movie I have finished. Surprisingly so was "Angel in a Red" and both are available for streaming on TUBI.
I just reviewed the clip for 'My Life For Yours' and I agree with what was said above. It looks like a director-financed project done by a small local ensemble. I like to support independent and small company films, so I'll probably give it a viewing to do my part. I have buddies who do small film projects in and around South Florida, so I'm sort of sympathetic to the cause.
Don’t know if this was mentioned but not strictly bm/ww Extraterritorial on Netflix. story revolves around an ex solider whose son is kidnapped inside the us consulate in Frankfurt and her fight to get him back. The woman’s son is biracial his father was also a solider that was KIA. They show him several times through photos of them together.
My sister & I went to see "Sinners" this afternoon. It was definitely one of the best and most original horror films I've ever seen in my life. The cast, the production, the script, the cinematography and special effects were all top shelf. We both absolutely loved every second of it and this was actually the very first time I had been to the movie theater since the pandemic and boy did I make it count. Excellent movie all around and a 10/10. It's safe to say at this point that Ryan Coogler has this whole filmmaking thing figured out. If y'all decide to see this film please stay until the very end of the credits. You'll thank me later.
It has been widely rumored online that Mary and Stacks (Hailee Steinfield' & Micheal B Jordan) were granted carte blanche from Ryan Coogler to improv their initial scene together (the sex scene) and that they went damn the torpedoes!!! She let her mother-father freak flag fly after Micheal gave her the greenlight . . . Hailee drooled in Michael's mouth sua sponte . . . Ryan Coogler did not write that freaky shit!!!! Ryan Coogler was going to cut that part of the scene out but Micheal was not having it .
