Not surprised. Drake got angry and acted out of impulse. Which was his biggest mistake against someone stategic like Kendrick.
He'll definetly still sell albums because he still has that ride or die fanbase, but his credibility within Hip Hop itself is dead and his tough guy act is over.
THIS. At his core Drake was just a hip hop fan. He was never actually hip hop when it came to making the music. He didn't have a voice that spoke on anything real or substantive. If he had one he never would have gone the pop star route and would have been actual competition for Kendrick.
Facts. Kendrick peeled back the layers of who he really is in all of his diss tracks towards him but Drake got arrogant and underestimated both Kendrick and true hip hop fans. He thought his status as one of the top rappers in the world was going to be enough to win him the beef, but it wasn't and everyone saw it firsthand. Kendrick even told him in Euphoria, "I'm what the culture feeling."
Toronto winning wouldn't help Drake on any level. He fucked himself on multiple levels. His hometown team winning a championship doesn't erase his fuck ups & losses.
True. But his fanbase won't see it that way. And if Toronto wins they will be doing imaginary victory laps they think will spite Kendrick somehow.
"Once a lame, always a lame." Kendrick Lamar. Drake is King of Lames. So of course his fanbase will forever be about lame shit.
