I will say this; female lead games have been a thing for decades. Never have been and never should be an issue. But, I believe the fantasy aspect of how these characters look should be preserved. Just like no-one wants to see an average, every day looking guy as James Bond or pudgy, pasty looking Bruce Wayne, most of us don't want a female lead who looks like and everyday girl. Male heroes all look like they were genetic gifts from the gods. And, everyone accepts it and it's cool. As it should be. Why should female heroes look so average? It's funny because it reminds me of when the Bond movie Golden Eye and how nerds were complaining how no female scientists in real life look that good. Now, fast forward a few decades and things have flipped. Now, nerds are complaining that women in adventure stories look too everyday or just plain "meh." None of this will stop me from playing a game if it's good. I don't mind playing female lead games or enjoying female lead action movies. But, I do think guys should be allowed to have their fantasy female characters look model perfect. There's nothing wrong with it.
The issue isn't & never has been whether or not fantasy characters (especially women) should be idealized human depictions. It's individuals who make games, comics, TV shows , movies & everything media their entire personalities & lives because they live their everyday existence vicariously through media. That's why they are entitled anti-social assholes. Same thing can be seen when it comes to IR dating/relationships. Too many individuals see this a some type of fantasy level entertainment or fetish rather than real life.
I agree, I'm overweight with receding grey hair and bad knees in real-life, I think it would be a bad idea to see someone who looks like me being the bad-ass chosen one in a action game. What's wrong with having exceptional people look cool, and hot.
