To me, she is white. Just the way Im brought up - where I come from, Latinos and Armenians etc are white, regarless of skintone. This is one of the things Im graggpling w here in the US. But yes, I am aware of that is not how it works here. Lots pf grey area then.. in that case, then I might be labeled as non-white in some peoples eyes.???????? I really find this middle area very confusing. What is it based on?? Just looks >> genetic make up?? argh. I cant grasp. In utopia, we wouldnt be so distracted by skincolor.... one can only wish.
There is a big gray area. It all depends on who you talk to. I have cousins in Argentina, but they're descendants of Turks and I don't know them very well to know how they classify themselves.
It is exactly how you stated it. The usa does not recognize Hispanic as a race. The census seperated it from race. The problem is that it continues to be thought of that by many people as a race. I don't address it any more because I stopped worrying about it.
I would love to know how they classify themselves. That middle are is confusing as all get out. Seems to just depend on who you sare talking to.
In the US, white people are considered those of European descent that does not include Spain. I know, Spaniards are not "white" but they have white complexion. According to US standards, Whites are Euro minus Spain. You would be considered white in the US, FG. According to US standards, if you're more than 1/4 African American or of Afro descent, you're "black".

I want to make an emphases between how the public sees what white is and what the government sees what white is. Also, this is new news to me that people coming from Spain are not white. This is probably something in L.A.'s area.

I know this fact wise. But in Europe, Spanish people ARE white. Genetically, I have a very interresting mix, that according to US standards would put me in the grey area inbetween if they knew my genetic mix. I just never payed any attention to it - until I got on here to tell you the truth.
