Well, it finally happened just as I predicted it would. That fool who laid me off less than a year ago lost his business last week. The property has been seized due to failure to pay his taxes, and he also has bounced checks and outstanding bills all over the place. He also owes his employees money. I'm not happy it happened to him, but I'm not sad about it either. The only thing keeping me from laughing about it is all of his employees who are now without jobs. Thankfully they should have no problem getting unemployment under the circumstances, and hopefully it won't take them long to find jobs. I remember that idiot telling me when he got rid of me that not only would it save him money to cut me loose and do the job himself, but he smugly said he could also do the job better than I could. I guess he was wrong about that. lol I don't know why because I didn't answer the phone, but for some reason that fool called me tonight. I am curious about why he was calling though.
Either finally manning up and offering a well deserved apology for keeping his business operational for as long as you did or keeping with his messed up ego and laying blame on you as to why he finally went belly up.
Knowing him and his ego, if it was one of those reasons, it'd be to blame me for his failure. IMO, he's the type that never mans up and never sees his shortcomings or himself as he truly is. My son thinks he was calling to ask for my help (yeah right). lol Whatever it is, he needs to leave me the hell alone.
Maybe he'll learn to have some empathy for employees, especially those who are saving his arse, and learn to improve his business practices from this whole ordeal.
It shows some real sense of decency that you didn't burst into laughter. I don't know if I could show the same kind of class. This! And this!
Consider yourself lucky that you dodged a bullet. Any person inconsiderate enough to stand someone up is someone that you do not want to be involved with, period!
Agreed. It would be great if he could learn that lesson, but it's not likely to happen. Sadly, that's who he is, and he'll probably never change (especially since it's a pattern he's repeated several times with different business ventures over the years. He's failed at everything he's tried to do, and according to him it's never his fault. What he needs to learn more than anything is that he needs to stop trying to be a businessman, because he sucks at it. He should've sold the store while he had the chance. I did have a bit of a chuckle at his expense, but the 20+ people out of a job took away a lot of the funniness. I'm thankful that my layoff happened when it did; otherwise I wouldn't have gotten the severance or vacation pay. He owes them all their final pay, but he's avoiding them like the plague. I hope they get their money soon.
