I think the right chemistry followed by similar morals and outlooks on life can lead to life long companionship. Just let it flow and don't force it.
Along with a thread regarding black myths. I spent a lot of time researching what we were talking about. Most articles agree with you but I am really looking for a definitive reason as to why we as group excel at sports. Not even excel but dominate. Where the hell is the Native American or Asian Usain Bolt or Lebron James. Dudes who absolutely embarass the competition.
The first dominant US Olympian in running was a Native American. I think that conditions on the reservation are so horrible nowadays that, of those that remain, they are really having a tough time. And I imagine that many of those with resources or capital who aren't actively fighting to help their community have largely left and assimilated. I think people just channel their strength and their dreams into whatever avenue is open. As doors open, oppressed people surge forward. Look at African emigres whose cultures generally don't place as much emphasis on sport as African-Americans. They achieve more broadly in math, science and business. But back in Africa, many nations have underclasses whose children dream of sports dominance and pour their heart and soul into it. Hell, if I could dribble or bicycle kick, I would have tried that route. But I did better with books than balls.
But my counter to that is Jamaica an island completely fucked by the IMF whose conditions are no better than the Native Americans who still produce world class athletes. See why I have a problem accepting the simplicity of what you're proposing? And to be fair I think sports is something most of us gravitate to as kids its just that those with better work ethic and talent tend to stay in the sports longer. So where are the naturally gifted white, Hispanic, Native American, and Asian dudes crushing the competition in sports like basketball, baseball, track and field, and football.
I like you, @orejon4 And here's a little piece on Kenyan runners: http://www.npr.org/blogs/parallels/...kenyan-tribe-produces-the-worlds-best-runners
The answer to why Kenya makes the best runners is likely sociocultural, not genetics. Its pretty simple, greater participation in a particular sport= larger talent pool. Most developed countries have access to much greater amounts of sport, therefore, the talent is distributed. The scandanvians have been been recorded to have very similar levels of o2 utilization and fractional capacity, but the majority of there endurance athletes are streamlined into x-country skiing. The differences between race and sport performance are far less than most people would like to believe. Ok this was an interesting answer. I like the merits of it but then as it pertains the US in the sports that African Americans dominate in is there a higher rate of participants widening the talent pool. I'd love to see the stats because in my head I would say more whites participate in baseball and football but we see who dominates there. Basketball is tricky since I live in NY and every black kid with a jump shot thinks they're going to the league but I don't know if that's country wide. Then we go into other sports like boxing and track where I think the participant rate is either pretty even or more so dominated by other groups. Where there is low participant rates African Americans are pretty much no existent ie swimming and ice hockey as they tend to be more expensive and have a higher barrier to entry.
There are still many couples out there whose relationship did not "end" and are, instead, celebrating 50+ years of marriage. They may not all have been happy years, but the relationship was obviously one that worth remaining committed to and invested in.
I've recently started netball up again. My knees after last night. Noncontact my arse. Too old for this shit
