African Apps Take on Mobile Game Industry The game industry, dominated by the Japanese and the West, with their fervent means of delivering quality based games. The mobile gaming market has grown exponentially thanks to the likes of Zynga, Funzo, and other game developers which brings these games into the market for social networking websites like Facebook or Google+. Now, in Lagos, Nigeria, Africans are getting into the gaming market. Being the country with the most growth in terms of internet users, marketing, and pretty much everything, it'll slowly evolve into its own Silicon Valley with bright young men and women creating very promising games. Maliyo, one start-up founded by computer programmer and engineer, Hugo Obi, is showing this promise with ideas that ultimately prove to be fun and entertaining. I'd wager that in the near future, though the mobile market will have African-based games, it won't be too long before we see African developers hitting the console gaming market. And perhaps, we could see some unique brands and styles and surprising upcoming talent from the "Dark Continent."
