Age specs?

    Is there really an age specification on this site?

    There have been a few 17 yr olds around and I was just wondering, something I saw in one of the threads to one of them, sounded like you had to be 18 to be on here. But there was a 17 yr old in chat yesterday and she said that she had put in her birthday when she signed in and it didn't deny her.

    I was just wondering if it were so or not.

    Technically yes, all members should be over 18 but it is enforced on a case by case basis in the forums - the topic they are posting in, etc. No one under 18 can place a personal ad or access the adult areas.

    As far as the law in concerned, websites can verify someone is over 18 by forcing them to register with a credit card. Other than that you have to go by a person's word on their age.

    Thank you, so how then is this monitored? you said that it is enforced based on the topic, so then do other posters have some responsibility to speak up or report, or do you have another way of doing this?

    Yes, generally someone would report inappropriate behavior or posts.
