We don't live in a Capitalist society, we live in a Plutocracy. Read the Wikipedia page and tell me that is not what this country has turned into:

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Plutocracy

Pay particular attention to the "Modern Politics" section.

By definition, this is Capitalism (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Capitalism):

Capitalism is an economic system in which the means of production are privately owned and operated for profit, usually in competitive markets.[1] Income in a capitalist system takes at least two forms, profit on the one hand and wages on the other. There is also a tradition that treats rent, income from the control of natural resources, as a third phenomenon distinct from either of those. In any case, profit is what is received, by virtue of control of the tools of production, by those who provide the capital. Often profits are used to expand an enterprise, thus creating more jobs and wealth.

Except they aren't creating more jobs with their profits! So can we call ourselves a Capitalist society? I don't think so.

Also, read this article, very interesting.

    http://www.alternet.org/economy/151...0s-level_taxes,_the_debt_would_vanish/?page=1

We NEED to do something to take this country back. The Government says it is giving Corporations tax breaks, etc so that they can create jobs for us "regular folk" except corporations aren't creating sh*t but bigger bank accounts.

My question is: when is enough enough for people? What has to happen to wake the citizenry from it's collective coma??

hmmm... I remember months ago when I tried to explain how corrupt and bad things were yet no one seemed to care. People told me things were getting better.

As a matter of fact I think I had everyone attack me (over 100 replies of insults). People actually thought I was the crazy one for thinking big government is a BIG mistake...ahhh how times change..

    lol

We're not talking big government here. We're talking about mega corporations who basically rule the government and hold them hostage. Don't twist around information.

In my opinion, it's a plutocratic oligarchy with pretensions of fascism.

It's a wrap ladies and gents. If you have ties to any other industrialized go there asap. This little American experiment is over and we failed miserably

Yes, definitely Oligarchy is in there. I just didn't want to make this thread TOO complicated. LOL.

Great videos. Very enlightening and scary.

    Great. What's the next step?

You can't run away. You need to stay and fight. Running away doesn't change anything.

If we don't make a united front and force change, who will??

I hear you bookie, but I've been fighting the good fight for a long, long time and I'm getting tired. Time for you younger folk to start leading the fight.

Don't reinvent the wheel, stand on the shoulders of those who went before, but fight back. Sometimes, I'm glad I'm in my fifties and have MS...means I probably won't be around long enough to have to live through the worst of what's coming. (On average, MS takes about 7-10 years off your life expectancy). I'll be long gone when you guys are still fighting the battle to get the pendulum swinging back. While I don't wish the fight on anyone, I'm kind of glad I won't be here for all of it.

Woman this ain't Brave Heart this is not 300. There won't be some glorious final battle where the down trodded will show the powers that be they won't take it anymore. It's going to be a shit load if poor people losing their lives while the wealthy just get more shit. The ONLY way things will change is a combination of a great natural disaster a plague and possibly a war followed by a complete reset of the system in order for it to change. I'm beginng to see revolutions elections and riots are a joke. Those causing a problem sit safe in an ivory tower where no one nor nothing can touch them. This generation of Americans are just too weak and stupid. We're the dumbest most unhealthy bunch in our history. The fact that the Tea Party exists and millions support it says everything you need to know about the political will of the people.
I just don't see any scenario where it's not the pooor at each others throats while the wealthy just get richer and richer. Like I said grab your kids and get the fuck out while you can. Let the ship sink and maybe one day future generations can build a new ship but I won't sacrafice my life for people too stupid to see they're getting fucked. Too many of them are immature and ignorant and would rather blame the president because his black ass is a socalist. They'd rather attack pension programs and Medicare and call them entitlement programs and support the "job creators" while they steal tax money. I can respect stupidity and immaturity of that level. People that dumb need to die and I don't want to be here to help it happen.

The talking heads have bought into the meme that corporations aren't re-investing their TRILLIONS of dollars in profits into more jobs because there's too much 'economic uncertainty'. :smt119

WTF!!?? THEY are the ones responsible for that uncertainty!!!

Expand and hire more American workers, and we the people will do what we do best; SPEND MONEY!!

I think this whole gambit is designed to kick Obama out of office. The corporatists are willing to let the country stew in this shit pool for another year so that their candidate wins, whoever that is.

If and when a Rethug is elected, watch how 'miraculously' U.S. corporations reinvest in the economy, in lieu of a further lowering of the corporate tax rate.
You can't have a functioning society where those who control the majority of the weath REFUSE to pay their share.

When someone like Warren Buffett says publicly, tax my rich ass even MORE please(!!):smt003, you know the bullshit that's really going on in private at the country clubs is worse than most Americans even realize.

This tired old shit about long term deficits and unfunded entitlements is just that, bullshit.
Yeah there are things we can do to re-organize SS and medicare to make it more efficient and cut costs without reducing coverage, but the quickest way to pay down the deficit is through TAX REVENUES.

Shit IMO is seriously about to hit the fan, and if a Tea bagger is elected POTUS and attempts to cut the Federal government to the bone and sell off its assets to corporate America, this country will be on the brink of a third revolution.

I've heard the theory floated that right wingers want to reduce the authority of the Federal government and elevate the rights of States, to form a loose 'confederation' where each state governs themselves autonomously without the final say coming from Uncle Sam.

So say if Georgia wants to re-introduce slavery, hypothetically speaking, the Feds can't do shit about it.
Yes there are right wingers out here still trying to win the Civil War, believe that.

Who would have thought we'd ever reach a point where AMERICAN corporations refuse to bet long on AMERICAN workers and the U.S. economy???

It's attitudes like these that have allowed our government to get this way.

You can't give up. If someone was personally threatening you and your family, you wouldn't just run away or lie down and take it.

    You'd fight.

What is the difference here? Sorry TDK, but there doesn't need to be a catastrophic event to affect change. The "regular" people can make a difference.

The problem is: no one seems to care. Our government has beaten us into submission, completely. It's frightening how little people care about what is going on in their own country.

Book plain and simple I am not willing to throw my life or freedom for people too dumb to recognize what's going on. Not one single person responsible for the economic collapse went to jail not one. Americans should have rioted. That bullshit debt ceiling bill that passed served no one not Republicans nor Democrats. They literally signed millions of death warrants yet no one is rioting. They passed a horseshit Healthcare bill that does nothing for the people it just makes corporations richer. Unemployment at 9% 14 million people out of work yet corporations are making record earnings. All this and no 10 million man march on Washington? No sit ins or boycotts? It's not just because people are apathetic it's because too many are too dumb it's a wonder they know how to breathe. Things that are happening blantly in front of their eyes yet people still blame the black guy, they blame either party, shit you have people like Paniro who actually blame the poor. Americans have become a bunch of dummies and cowards. They want to live in shitty society otherwise they'd actually do something other than watch reality tv and fb.

As to your previous question if dudes were at my doorstep I would definitely fight but if I see a storm brewing miles away I'm piling my family in a car and putting as much distance between us and it as possible.
Like I said this shit ain't a movie. I'm not giving my life in the name of liberty freedom or any other bullshit they feed us to die for the interest of the rich

Wholly fuck !?! dude..really ?? ok then smart guy...so why do we even have states ?? Why do we even have governors ?? You really think life would be better if ONE SUPER STATE dictated what EVERY other state SHOULD do !!

Keep in mind this is the same federal gov, that says, it's illegal to buy raw milk, but legal to buy cigarettes...the same federal gov that says TSA MUST search babies and US veterans...the same federal gov that makes it illegal for people to choose their own monetary tender for trading of goods and services...the same federal gov that wrongfully imprisons people for drugs, the same fed gov that was responsible for shipping guns into mexico, the same federal gov, responsible for KILLING millions of innocent people in FAKE wars ...the same federal gov responsible for PROPERTY TAXES !!!

and for everyone else who is frustrated at the stupidity and lack of action by SOME Americans...welcome to my world..I feel that way all the time when I talk politics to people in this forum.
