An African-American in Scandinavia

I was at a party at the Finland Embassy which inspired me to look in to taking a trip to one of the 3 major Scandinavia countries (Norway, Sweden and Finland) has any one been to those places.

I will plan to take the trip the fall of 2006 plenty of time to do research and learn some of the language and a little culture. One of the reasons I want to go was a conversation I had with a beautiful Finnish female staff member who told me that the women would be all over black men who visit the country.

Any thoughts?

 

Despite the occasionally horror stories about other countries, you will find that women (or people in general) in other countries have much fewer racial hangups than the people in the states who's judgments about the world are socially conditioned along rigid racial lines.

Don't let them scare you away from international travel. Believe me, you will enjoy getting away from the racist American climate, no matter where you go.

 

I obviously am not a bm so I don't know what the reaction would be towards you in Scandinavia. Out of the three countries, Sweden - Stockholm seemed to be the most diverse. I also found it the most interesting of the three countries to be in. I recommend Denmark, though. I was only in Copenhagen but LOVED it. Much more diverse then the other three and much more to do. Okay, a little biased maybe. One of my grandfathers is from Denmark.

Are you saying you wouldn't enjoy yourself if you didn't have hordes of tall, blonde women all over you???? Silly question.

I've been to all the Scandinavian countries...and yes, the women are down wit bruthas. However, the best Nordic country for bruthas is hard to say. I've spent a lot of time in Sweden, but I've been to all of them (including Iceland). I had a blazin' time in all. I will say this: Iceland, followed by Norway, are the most expensive. I've found that Iceland, Norway, Sweden & Denmark had a very high proportion of extremely fine women.

Anyway, whatever country I plan to travel I want to go to a major city for only a few days and see some sights and hit some clubs. I am not expecting much but I want to see for myself how they treat black men good or bad.

 

I definitely would like to visit Sweden or Scandinavia or any of those areas near. Yeah, I'd expect a little racism being that I'm obviously not one that completely fits in with the territory but as far as traveling the world it seems like it would be a reasonable destination to visit. And as far as the abundance of blonde women, that would really be a pleasure. Once things become more established for me, those areas are surely going to be kept in mind.

 

I doesn't hurt to give it a shot...

and travel is always a good idea. It helps to not only expand your horizons, but to give you a piece of mind too...

but, understand that people are people everywhere. There isn't any guaranteed place in the world where absolutely nothing will EVER go wrong at anytime, whether it's a racial experience or not...

you go bro, and check out the place. travel is always good. I just came back from latin america, and on the plane ride down, I sat between two latina women. One was older and just asked me motherly questions, but the other one waited until the end of the trip and then started to ask all the questions. where I was staying, if i was alone, did I want a companion on my trip, giving me her name, where she worked etc.
it was great and the whole time on the trip women were very very friendly and open to relationships

I go to Honduras, where I family has lived and worked for 25 years. The women are beautiful and very open to black men

 

Finnish Women

Yes,some of them do go for Black men. I never forget during my first visit to Stockholm I saw two Finnish women with African men at a bar where the patrons are Black men. Also on the ferry to Stockholm I had met Finnish women more than Swedish ones. I look forward of going to Scandinavia again. Oh yes did you know the late Black journalist Carl T. Rowan was the American Ambassator to Finland?

When I came back to Stockholm back in 94 the pub had closed. There is another one but it is not as good like the one I had visited. It is not far from the Fasching club.

I haven't made my trip yet only in the planning stages looking to go in the Fall of 2006 around September and doing research about the country now. Also I have been in touch with the Embassy of Finland and they are more than happy to give me information as I will be going solo on this trip to "cover" myself so to speak.
