yeah true. there would be a difference, especially since you would be a foreigner/visitor to their established community. There would be things that you would experience that would be totally different.

Sure I'm tired of it and I've been told it's better in other parts of the world but I'm not so sure the USA is all that bad.
We have major issues to be sure but there is some good here as well. Plus I have not had many hardcore racial incidents. I have had far too many of the under cover, hidden things tossed my way.

I've always tried to hang on to the "People or people" line of thought and it's harder on some days than others but in the end I think we have just as much, if not more here, than in other places.

I think all of us on this site wish, hope and work for what we think is a better world.

We have to make it, not move to it.

Trust me jxsilicon9 it's no better here in Bermuda and we are considered to be Caribbean and we are situated 600 miles off the coast of south Carolina, thousands of miles from the Caribbean. But yea it will be no different there, actually it may be even worse as most of the Caribbean is predominately black and considered lower class in some instances and the minority is white, and blacks still in that makeup have to conform to an extent to that white minority because of the financial makeup..... which breeds racial tension.

Did something happen recently? Is it some recent incident that was the last straw or just basically the same racial crap as always. Just curious.

I do know what you mean though.

I feel what you are saying but I would think twice before considering the Dominican Republic. I live in Washington Heights in New York City which is pretty much Dominican Central and the brotha gets very little love at all. I think that it's because Wash. Heights tend to be very self-contained and all of the negative beliefs and mind sets circulate within the community with only very few people who mingle outside of their culture or neighborhood for extended amounts of time. You have DR nationals who can come to NY and live in the Heights and DO NOT have to worry about learning english.

My landlady has been in NY for 30 years and she CANNOT speak english. She has to get her children to translate everything she wants to tell me.

The coolest dominicans that I've met are the ones who have done extensive travelling so they can distinguish lies from the truth. You were probably just using the DR as an example but I felt I figured I'd give you a heads up.

I already have money and my cash flow won't stop if I move. I only bring up the Dominican Republic because I might buy a resort down there.

    USA

I have found very little racism in the US compared to other countries. My partner likewise having been in the military as an officer for many years will attest to the same. Racism of course exists in the USA but there are ways to improve your life, expand, and LIVE. Racism in other countries easily gets you killed. Do SOME people die because of present day racism in the US. Sure. Do whole entire populations of other people in other countries die because of racism. you betcha! And please dont kid yourself that it is any better in south america, central america, or Europe. The problems ONLY occur when there are enough of the other people to take jobs or make the status of the majority unstable. Please-there is NO place like home.

    Re: USA

I never said US was the most racist place on earth. Nor did I try and compare US racism to other countries racism. I just said I'm tired of this racial crap from both sides and would like to go somewhere else and relax. I never said is was about just racism. I'm talking about the politcial, social, etc racial crap that comes from both blacks and whites that I'm tired of dealing with. I've been out of this country and have seen other racial problems. I've also been to a few islands around South America that have been relaxing. I'm talking about moving somewhere were there isn't huge racial disputes. I'm not talking about going to Colombia or something. But I would love a change of scenery from this US racial crap.

Well, J, if you don't mind me sayin' so, exactly where can you go? If you feel that South America is a good place for you, then maybe you should go back there. Just my 2 cents.

no place to run and hide especially if you are a brotha. the racial crap is just as bad in South America, esp in Brazil, Argentina and Chile. Carribean is not that great, though a wee bit better than most. the USA is not bad depending on where you live and if you have the money, as you have.

I have lived in Central Am and Carribean and S America and it can just as uncomfortable as US
