What is your favourite meal to serve and why?

I have a standard breakfast from scratch I've honed a bit and I hope to try it out at my next opportunity.

It's a fresh fruit salad, homemade sausage patties (if the guest is not veg), scrambles, buttermilk pancakes with blueberry orange sauce and lashings of fresh ground coffee.

For me, although I'm a night person naturally, my mornings are often in a real rush to get out the door and get to work, so a nice full breakfast on a weekend is both intimate and decadent.

I can make a down south breakfast of grits, eggs and toast. If I drink too much coffee I will have problems.

Those blueberry pancakes sound nice as hell. That fresh fruit sounds real nice.

But that's really the extent of my 'cooking' skills. :p

Ramen noodles don't count in the scheme of things do they? :p :p :D

I've read about grits but never had them. I had the impression they were a bit like polenta

    what are ramen noodles??

For breakfast, I like to make pancakes from scratch, and I like to mix small bits of fruit in with the dough. I'll also make omelette with tomatoes, peppers, whatever, I like to mix!

Making a meal for a man is something I find to be very sensual and loving. When I am in a relationship it is something I do quite often. Preparing a meal together is an experience that would top nearly any lavish and expensive date.

I am a bit of a food snob and men that I date tend to be also. Preparing a meal involves going to the market to buy the freshest vegetables, meat/fish, spices, and fruit and a bottle of wine from a local winery. To plan a meal, chop/grind, prepare the delicate sauces, and present a finished meal to nourish the man I love is an act that I adore.

Wow, I've never been asked to explain what grits were. I need to see more of the country. That's all that says.

After looking polenta up in the dictionary, 'cause I'm not familiar with that lol, I guess it might be something like it.

Was this thread only intended for women? Sorry, when I was at home my folks didn't always cook breakfast so I learned a few things in the kitchen. :p :p :p

Ramen Noodles are a highly unhealthy meal that comes in these small packs. You boil them until they are loose and you add the 'special flavor' either while it's cooking or you can add it after it's strained. That was really a joke because I don't eat the things anymore. They're loaded with sodium. Loaded. Like Bill Gates is loaded with cash. Like the ocean is loaded with fish.

I meant it for everyone, and I know quite few guys who have their own specialties, some like BBQ, Indian food, it varies...

I've had biscuits and gravy but not much other southern type food, when I visited there, I was very drawn to the mexican food so I had a LOT of that.

Ah the packets, yes we have them here. Quite salty! That would be a creative spontaneous meal then...

Crystal, you need to get the Southern Food experience. Dirty Rice or something like that. Not too much though. Soul Food is bad for you. 9 out of 10 doctors agree lol.

Buscuits and Gravy are too Universal to be a Southern Food experience. You were shortchanged.

What types of Mexican food did you try in particular? :)

some of the usual expected stuff...burritos/tacos/nachos/fajitas deal

and some more interesting stuff like rellenos, enchiladas, moles, sopapillas (as a main course accompaniment NOT a dessert).

and the best non frosted made from scratch margaritas I've ever had that were like nectar.

My only regret was that we had so few days to sample and didnt' get an opportunity to eat any home cooked food, we were eating at restaurants for the most part.

Great topic!! For myself I love to cook. I love to cook for my partner, friends, and I love to cook for myself. I love to make all kinds of things. I love to experiment with things that just pop into my mind.

Breakfast is always awesome. One of my breakfast specialties is blueberry banana almond french toast. I just woke up scheming about it one day and decided to make it happen. I love cooking for my partner because I think it makes her feel cared for. I never ask her to help. I just want her to come eat when I call her, and when she's done I take care of the dishes. There is never a big mess anyway cause I clean up as I cook.

Shrimp scampi w/spinach over rice or pasta is easy and good. I love a good salad. You can always tell a good restaurant by the salad they serve. I will throw together some mixed baby greens, sliced pear and pine nuts with a raspberry vinegarette. I'll do up some bread sticks and maybe some asparagus on the side.

They always seem to watch me in amazement when I cook. I never time things, and I do very little measuring. Everyone seems to love my stuff. I had a girlfriend once who was always asking me to deep fry scallops for her. Most of the time it was late night. Sometimes I didn't feel like it, but I'd do it anyway. Her famous line was "Come on, you know its all about me". Yes dear....lol.

    Well Pearl,

I think it could probably be arranged, but I think we're gonna have to talk just a little bit more first.

Hey Pearl, how old are you and where in the world are you from? If you don't mind me asking that is.
