The blueberries and bananas are blended. Since its french toast and not pancakes the consistency has to be smoother. For the almond part I used "almond extract".

    vanilla extract
    eggs
    cinnamon
    nutmeg
    baking powder
    A Hershey's Vanilla shake
    paprika
    salt
    sugar

I think that's about it. I don't measure....... Hope that gives you an idea about how it works.

Oh by the way, when you cook it use a little bit of bacon grease in the pan. That just pulls it all together.

I like to make my french toast with homemade egg bread. For something different you could caramelize the bananas, cut a pocket in a thick slice of bread and stuff the bread slice with the caramelized bananas and blueberries. Almond paste would be good in the stuffed part also.

Mmmm...I love breakfast foods best of all.

As a garnish the carmelized bananas would be nice , but like I said before I like to keep the mixture smooth so it looks like regular french toast. I've tried thick sliced bread and the middle gets soggy with this particular kind. I would say that thin sliced works best for my recipe.

I hadn't thought of blending it, what an interesting idea.

I wonder what a blended peanut butter banana version would be like...

Wow! if you were having a large # over you could take that single version and let people make their own from combo's they find interesting.

Cooking is the best!!! I think its best when you get spontanious. I do a lot of stuff on the fly. Whatever it is it has to look and taste good.

You are right lainarain, breakfast rules!!!!

Of course breakfast rules. It's the most important meal of the day, since it's actually the healthiest meal you would eat during the whole day anyway. (Breakfast foods of course, not others)

Totally agree - never ever miss breakfast and it helps me eat less all day. If I have 'company', what I cook depends upon the man's preference - one lad was a real stocky rugby boy, so enjoyed me cooking up lots of meat and sausages for him. Another preferred some scrambled egg and salmon on bagels (my personal favourite!) I've had some great breakfasts in the US, one which I didn't think would work but tasted amazing, was rashers of bacon, with chopped up strawberries on the top - and some maple syrup sprinkled over the lot. Then just a side of hash browns and egg...mmm. Might try that one at home once it comes into strawberry season.

I used to be a legendarily bad cook when I was young. Nowadays I still don't have a natural knack of knowing which spices to use, or what will mix well with what, and I still need to learn lots of basics but I do try and cook for my lovers when I can. I cook very simple meals for my man and I almost every night that we are both at home, because otherwise he forgets to eat healthily. when I have more time I try and do it properly. Like lainy I love going over to Borough market to pick up what I need, where they have everything from nice wine, herbs and spices, cakes and fresh bread, all kinds of produce and beautiful cuts of meat, you can buy everything for almost any recipe. When I work slowly from a recipe it generally comes out tasting nice, although it takes me about 2 hours to put something together, but that's half the fun. Next I want to try and pick up some venison as it has a better taste than beef steak - I have a good recipe for some soup, and for afters am going to try making my first cake...hooray...I do love cooking. Just cooking for you is fine but a bit of a sad experience compared to the excitement of feeling that you have something to serve up and give to someone else - if I can get cakes right then I can start to bake cakes as birthday presents, which will also save me a bit of cash!

I made some good scrambles on the weekend..usually I just go for "regular" but a gf was coming over so I tried this:

added in chopped cherry tomatoes, mozarella, green onions, cooked the eggs then served them with homefries (no grits around  ) and torn fresh basil.

MistressB, a friend of mine who was a passionate (and superb) baker told me that no one could make a chocolate cake from scratch that was better than Duncan Hines mix, and that she always used a mix if people aske her her to make a choc. cake.

Maybe you could try a few choc cake mixes to see what works best and focus more on the "presentation" with icing/decorations?? Oh! Like I decorated a chocolate hazlenut cheesecake with candied pink roses*!!!

    (*so easy to make!)

    Do U Cook 4 your date/mate?

First, I wouldn't ask someone to do something I wouldn't do for them. Second, cooking for a woman, to me, is something I enjoy doing. I feel it's very sensual. It means that person has significance. It also lets the woman/man know a little about a man/woman. What foods, drinks, accoutrements, etc., go with the meal? What are his/her likes, dislikes? What does he/she value?
I think cooking can provide insight into one's personality. For example, can the person carry on a conversation while displaying their culinary artistry? Or are they so engrossed in what they're doing that they end up ignoring the individual during the cooking process? Several people opened their cookbooks, which was great. However, the question wasn't what do you cook? The question was "do you/would you cook?" So you can prepare the most sumptous meal and it not mean a hill of beans (no pun intended). Or you can prepare the most simplistic meal and it can have significant meaning.

I would like to be the first to welcome a man who uses the word "accoutrements" in conversation. :D

    Re: Do U Cook 4 your date/mate?

Actually, the question was: anyone like/want to cook for their date/mate and the sub question was: what is your favourite meal to cook and why.

Do you or would you could be all about obligation or satisfying your partner because they wanted it, but been there done that, and that's a whole separate thread, in my mind.

So I wanted to know if people were INTERESTED of their own volition and enjoyment to cook.

And then yes, I did ask what exactly they cooked. Hence the cookbooks.

    Welcome and hope this clarifies.
