Is he being completely serious in his answers? Because I thought that was really terrible advice to the girl who said she used to sleep around. Do I condone sleeping around? No. But if you don't have STDs from it, and you're not cheating on your current partner, is it really anyone's business but your own? What possible good can come from bringing it up? Just my two cents' worth.

I can take it from pretty sure authority that he's quiet serious. He also writes an advice column for a small news paper and has been doing so for over 5 years. He's no Dr. Laura, and he doesn't know it all. He only gives his opinion.

I especially like his K-Bar and his field hatchet.

...the man proposed to the woman. (ie. he wants to spend the rest of his life with her) If she is really considering saying YES, then he has the right to know her past; to accept her knowing about her past. If it was just a dating relationship I'd agree with you, but from video this goes way past "just dating"

Why start a marriage with secrets and then expect anything good to come of it?

If you listen closely you can also tell two things.

    1. You know what she will do
    2. You know that she is looking for support for what she is about to do.

Most people that ask question already know the answers and they are simply looking for someone to talk them out of what they know to be right, or they are looking for affirmation.

But what of the other advice/opinions?

Yo I've only watched a few of his videos, but he's funny as shit. Also, his advice DOES make sense to those who happen to LACK common sense...

Well, yes, I agree every relationship deserves complete honesty. Of course this woman shouldn't pretend she's a virgin, or was until she met the man who wanted to marry her. But does she have to divulge every detail to be truthful? I don't think so. It would be completely truthful to say that she has had past relationships but is now totally committed to her man. (In my opinion.) The only thing that wouldn't be truthful would be if he asked her directly for a number, and she lied with a lower number.

Again, this isn't based on my own life philosophy -- my own experiences are limited, and I wouldn't have any problem talking about my past relationships since there have only been two. 8) But I honestly don't think you need to spell out how many people you've been with, as long as you're completely done with that lifestyle and are clean. If I met a guy who had been a player, I would be much more concerned with his current lifestyle and morals, not what went on in his past.

He did have some good advice and I like his style!

and really that's all it is. "Common sense"

I don't think it is the number of men she slept with that is important. Men think you women are lying anyway. It is more her past actions and that she used to be very loose. And that the people in the neighborhood she lives in; the the men the both of them see every day she's probably banged out.

I think that is something she would share with a man that just asked to marry her. Like I said she knows what she should do and she knows what the right choice is. She is looking for that extra kick of support.
lol...this makes you one of the few women on this board that does.

    DEUCES!

In regards to his comments to that 1 specific lady, I again agree whole-heartedly with his statement. If you feel you need to hide something from a guy who wants to marry you, well that says it all right there.

to relate, i'll mention how I once read a thread here that stated many women WOULD get a background check done on new guys in their lives as they don't trust them. Funny how that's a two way street, huh? Like a guy would like to THINK that a woman is honest about her past, but far too often they cannot be. I'll say it again, if you feel the need to hide something then you obviously aren't comfortable with the facts yourself.

If a guy has a criminal record for something he did when he was 18, well then everyone has a right to know, but if a woman has slept with half the town, well that's a woman's right to choose/ personal private info? Mmmmmmkay......

More and more i'm getting to be against the whole institution of marriage as a whole, but that's for another thread. I'm just saying everything stated here is another reason for me or any dude to think twice about jumping a broomstick, cause your gonna be putting yourself through a lot more bullshit than this, and is it really worth it? not for this kneegro.... I guess part of the problem is that even in 2011, there's a double standard. It's okay for a man to be a player, but not okay for a woman to have been around. So I'm sure she's just scared that she'll lose someone she cares about because of her past. Should she lie? No. I don't know exactly what she should say but I'm pretty sure "I was a ho" isn't the right thing.

Like I said, I don't care if someone partied back in the day, or robbed a convenience store, but I do care if they molested a little child. If I could get a background check to find out that type of thing about a guy, sure I would. It really can be hard to trust people, unfortunately.

Why the negativity toward marriage? Someone could be lying to you whether or not you get married. Actually, studies have shown married men are happier than single men. I have no agenda here -- I'm not married myself. But I don't see why, based on this, you're so bitter toward women. A lot of people lie -- men and women both. I have been SERIOUSLY lied to by a couple of men.

Watching this video only made me wonder one thing:

How the fuck do you know how painful it is to have a "cock" up the ass ???

Second question: do I really wanna know?

I agree I find the videos funny and if you are crazy enough to ask questions knowing how blunt and sarcastic the answers are going to be then don't see how you can get offended...

I always wonder what the "institution" of marriage is. I never thought of marriage as an institution but simple a formal promise. And by most measurable means the relationship of a marriage couples lasts longer than a *cough* committed relationship

    - divorced rates hoovering at 40 - 60 percent
    - committed relationships upwards of 90%

There are no absolutes in either choice; however, one makes choices thats ill increase the chance of success. Its pretty clear which choice that is.

A lot of people who are against marriage are really again't making the formal promise. The want the benefits of "marriage" but they don't actually want to "get" married. And not getting married makes it easier to leave.

    But marriage as an institution?

I'm not trying to throw the thread off on a tangent. Like i said, the marriage thing is for a completely different thread; I'll probably start one up shortly. I'm also not that bitter towards women, as I have a girl and she's great.

I just don't believe in putting a ring on it, probably ever. I don't believe ANY study that would say married men being happier than single men. Does that study accurately account for feelings of the men that USED to be married, and then got dragged through the ringer???

That's one thing that you paid attention too? Interesting. The answer would seem simple, simple to me at least and I don't think it would require the intelligence that God gave the plastic tips on shoe strings to figure out. But hey, I've been wrong before. Maybe some people lack a certain level of knowledge and understanding to figure out something so easy.

Well its like this, I've never put my hand in an open flame........never, and I don't need to in order to tell you with a good amount of certainty that the flame will burn human skin.

I've never given birth to a child, but I know that it is painful.

There are a number of reasons to support the idea that the anus was not created for sexual activity.

    - The rectum's main purpose is to act as a passageway for feces, but feces isn't in the rectum until just prior to a bowel momvent. Inserting a phallus into an opening that was only meant as in exist can be painful.

    - The rectum is not straight - see the sexual anatomy diagrams. After the short anal canal that connects the anal opening to the rectum, the rectum tilts toward the front of the body, sometimes as much as 90 degrees. Then, after a few more inches, it swoops towards the front of the body again.

    - There are two sphincter muscles. There is less than a quarter-inch between them. The external sphincter is controlled by the central nervous system (voluntary), which means you can tense and relax this sphincter whenever you want. The internal sphincter is quite different. This muscle is controlled by the autonomic nervous system (involuntary). Having no way to control this musle causes pain.

    - The enternal muscle of the rectum are created in such a way to squeeze OUT fecel material from the body, not to welcome in forgin objects.

Hope that helps you a little bit. But before I leave here is one passing thought.

If you jump out of an airplane without a parachute the chances of you dying are very very high; however, take my word for it. You don't need to jump out of an airplane to test my hypothesis.

Hey, no need to defend yourself.

I mean, you have to try stuff in order to be able to say its not for you, right?

Some of us are more kinky and willing to explore stuff than others.

Next time just say "it is painful, so I've been told" or "it is probably painful".
If you say it like u did it leads to the assumption that u are speaking of own experiences.

And I did jump out of a plane by the way (and thanks to having a parachute Im still here to ask my curious questions). ;)

I think Happiness is very difficult to "study". By what scale would you use to measure happiness? But as an anecdote....yes

    http://www.associatedcontent.com/article/321226/study_married_people_happier_than_singles.html

    I addition married men
    - live longer
    - earn more
    - have a higher general standard of health
    - lower stress levels
    - better interpersonal skills
    - better coping skills

As I said most people who decry marriage do so because of the legal, social, and emotional binds that are placed on a couple when they get married. Your question about being taken through the ringer supports that.

And in the end its women who suffer the most in a long term relationship not joined in legal marriage. You will find a few women who say "I just don't believe in marriage" but mostly this is said by men who what to keep future option open..JUST IN CASE...make sure to secure that easy way out ahead of time.

I tell young women I come in contact this.

"If you believe he is worthy enough for you to carry his sperm, then he should believe you are worthy to carry his last name."

LOL you thought I was defending myself?

How about I say what I said and let that stand? I mean if that is ok with you. On second thought. Its sort of crazy but I have lived 38 years without seeking your permission on how to speak. Again, there is no such thing as absolution; no guarantees...but I have this strange feeling I JUST might be able to live the rest my life the same way.

    You don't say?

Oh come on man, get the fuck outta here....

In honor of my being a good sport, I will go through the trouble of reading the study on the link you gave. However, to be PERFECTLY honest, it's just another bunch of statistical facts accumulated by a female (a surprise there), so called, Relationship Expert. Why women feel the need to constantly write articles supporting the status quo in modern society, a society that completely protects the female agenda(s) in every way, well, gee, I could only guess.

Women like the idea of marriage. Always have, always will. It's programmed into them at a young age. How many women out there wrote on their facebook profiles the day Prince William got engaged: "Well, there goes my one chance of being a princess"? At least 10 of my friends alone.

So a single educated male like myself stating that I'm completely against the idea bothers a lot of people. REALLY bothers them, actually. More than they would ever admit. I'm prone to the "who the hell hurt you so bad", or "why are you so jaded" jargon, among a bunch of other shit that is intended to make me feel like I am having alien thoughts. Why, a man such as myself is SUPPOSED to find a nice lady to COMPLETE me as a person and make an HONEST man out of me. Complete bullshit. I can't be complete or honest on my own???

Which brings me to your bullshit statement YMRA. Why is it that a male that doesn't like the idea of marriage MUST be AFRAID of the ideas that the vows intend. To quote ya:

    For fuck sake, man.
God save me for having the "common sense" to do something I think all intelligent people should do. Protect yourselves against downward trends. For those of you that dabble in the stock market, you may recognize the phrase. Simply put, no matter how rosey everything may seem at some point or another, things will INEVITABLY take a downturn at some point or other. I simply ask, who needs the stress of that when it can be prevented? Trust me, I know I'll be happier knowing I took a preemptive strike against said downturn.

I really dislike you statement about the sperm by the way. Whoever said I was out to impregnate as many women as possible without marrying them? I've yet to do that as I'm one of the few black males out there that knows how to use birth control.

I simply want to state that I don't feel the need of a legal document to state my love for another, nor the need to convey it in front of someones God, if there is one. Why is that so hard to understand? I at this point in my life feel very content in this idea, and I DON'T feel my mortality rate will increase due to my opinion. Do you realize how silly that sounds?????

    I'm done. :smt020

Let me remind you. What you said was

Of course its easy to make the assumption that a person is not going to agree to something that goes counter to what they believe.

    I mean..........duh

You can be honest..... But your entire reply is the biggest reason many men are opposed to marriage.

    - taken through the ringer
    - protect yourself
    - Just in case.

And that brutha is f.e.a.r. Protecting yourself form downward trends. What many men like yourself what is all he benefits of marriage, but also be able to pack up and leave when they choose. And in the its usually the woman they left behind that he's up holding the ball, raising the children, and suffering far worse economically.

Whoever said you were out to impregnate a woman? My return question is the same, who did say that? No I. I said I tell that young women.

And especially young black women, over 60% of black children been born to single women.....that means that a woman felt the man she was with was worthy enough to deposit sperm in side of her...yet he did not deem her worthy enough to carry her last name.

If you are applying my situation to your own and asking me why I don't understand then you really miss the mark. I have no drama...none at all. In fact I fly back to D.C. every other week and have been spending it in my own house. No drama. And even if I had drama that is not going to make me change the way I feel about marriage.

I very much doubt they were being serious about Prince William! ;) Perhaps you took them a bit too literally?

Hey, I hear you that you don't need to get a piece of paper and a ring to prove how much you love someone. It's not for everyone. At the same time, I think it's a great thing to do if you're planning a family especially. It may even be financially necessary when it comes to insurance, etc.
