Side note: running for elected office in this country is pretty much a joke if you don't already have millions of dollars at your disposal. It's very unfortunate.

 

True that! That's why they get in bed with businesses and try to keep it under wraps...

then they act like the reason politicians get paid that much, is because a) the job is difficult or b) there needs to be an incentive to draw the best and the brightest

public service has become more of a lucrative career now, instead of something that people generally did out of good faith and the betterment of society. I know a ton of people that would gladly sit on congress for half of what those rich bastards make.
