It's cool he's president. I've got not much more to say. If I paid attention to politics , I'd probably care just a little bit more.
Wasn't it wonderful watching the states turn blue on the map??!! It was a wonderful sight to behold!!!
I almost slipped when I saw ole Jessie break down, even now when I think about the enormity of it.....
Which states? KY is still SOLID RED So is much of the DEEP South, you should hang your heads in shame actually, many say your about 4-8 years behind the political curve. The mouth pieces hired by the Progressive South haven't been heard from, because you don't have enough of a push, about 40% and frankly your states are way too rural and much work needs to be done. You'll find most of Louisville, KY voted for Obama, but the rest with the Gun Racks in there Chevys said we'll not have a colored man in the White House, well we poo-poo'ed that idea... Congrats to Obama, Rasta said it would be a blow out, he should bet in Vegas more often.
Jesse broke down 'cause he knows he won't be invited to the White House anytime soon. People still remember when he slipped on Fox News and said he wanted to rip Barack's balls off (he thought the mic was off)
VA was red in 2004 as was CO. There are others but I don't have the electoral map in front of me. States like Montana are still red but went almost 50% for Obama. The rest of your post is on point.
I used to have that attitude about politics also...until I realized that politics are a very important part of our lives as Black people. Without politics and all the craziness that goes into them, desegregation and the civil rights movement would have - could have - never happened. Just something to think about. Or not. Each to his or her own.
Dj4monie, your personal attack on my state has absolutely no relevance on how I feel regarding the outcome of the election. I suppose that everyone that you vote for always wins. I was refering to the nation as a whole and not just the outcome in my state. He will still be president in the states that he didn't win, and he will be my president which is something that I helped to work for along with other associates in KY. We may not have won the battle in our state, but we won the war and that is what ultimately matters. I also resent the fact that you decided that this thread was the place to vent your negativity. This thread was created to celebrate Obama's victory and the history that has been made for the nation. Your post states a great deal about your character; however, I'm not surprised. I've read your posts before and would expect nothing positive to come from you, and you didn't disappoint.
11/4/08- an unassailablly progressive step.. hopefully more progressive things to come.. still it takes work by individuals to reach out in various communities.. america's still not "post-racial".. http://hypestyleshomebase.blogspot.com/2008/11/hope-is-here-and-now-barack-hussein.html
Still, Jesse Jackson jr is one of Barack's main advisors and most likely his successor in the senate.
