Have you ever notice when a NEW white dance club opens in the urban area it tend to close or go out of business within a couple of months once the brothers start coming to it.

I have never heard of that ever happening, would you care to share your story of seeing this happen?

Never heard of that, even a racist person usually won't deny green money.

Sure Tucker, there was a club in a hotel called (Tickets) in the outskirts of Washington, DC (in Virginia actually) that had an all-white clientel with a few blacks clubbers now and then. For the first 3-4 months it was doing great business they played great music (Top 40) surprising for a white club everyone was dancing with each other no matter what color you were.

Well, the brothers from DC heard about "Tickets" and they told their friends who in turn told their friends, you get the idea. The club turned from all-white to an even black and white which was ok until the club started to increase the cover charge from "free" to $10 to keep the riff raff out when that didn't work they increase it to $20. There were other situations where some other the black guys coming on too strong on the white women this being Virginia the police where called on both Friday and Saturday night. The management decided to change the format from Top 40 to . . . wait for it . . . hard rock. When that didn't work change it to country to get rid of some of the hardcore black guys. By then it was too late most of the loyal customer both black and white where gone so they change it to a Comedy Club with was a last resort and then it closed.

There were several other clubs in the Washington, DC area that experience the same thing I was wondering if anyone from different cities were in the same situation.

nope, i never heard of that happening--and there isnt necessarily any proof that that was the reason they closed. And perhaps the police was called because there was riff raff causing problems. Virginia has plenty of blacks and black and white clubs.

Still, racism may have something to do with it, since the story is laced with a racist undertone from the police. This is VA after all.

i love virginia and never had an issue with the police, so i dont know what everyone is referring to. New York and New Jersey police on the other hand like to rape black men with broom handles, are notorious for racial profiling and shooting bullets in the back of an unarmed man.

I don't know if I've ever heard of this until now...but it doesn't sound all that surprising...very realistic in fact.

It is all realistic, and I should know, since I am here in VA.

Black men not being able to pay a ticket price of 20$ and a management which decides to play hard rock or to turn a club into a comedy club is tantamount to black men closing white dance clubs???

That seems to be a far-fetched speculation, unless you believe that black men are a homogeneous group of broke and bankrupt hard rock and comedy haters.

It is assume that anyone who is willing to pay $20 to go to a club will not cause any trouble. As for comedy clubs, you can't really mingle since everyone are sitting at a table or a bar. In a dance club usually the trouble starts when a jealous boyfriend mix it up with a gentleman who hits on his girlfriend. Which was most of the cases in TICKETS.

I also have tell you this happened in the late 80's - early 90's in Washington, DC area clubs and the majority of clubs has close because of this. There are clubs now in DC that had their liquor license revoked because someone either have been shot or stabbed inside or outside of the club.

Now the clubs that are still open have metal detectors or frisk customers when they enter. Also clubs have gotten smart by enforcing a dress code and not having customers where sneakers, baggy pants, hats or cargo pants. Zanzibar a club in southeast Washington, DC a mostly black clientele with a small mix of white (usually women) have enforce a dress code where you have to wear a collared-shirt and a jacket which reads you have to be dress to the hilt or you will not enter.

I live in North Kansas City, Mo. to where most of the clubs I go to are mainly dance clubs with white women and black men there. There are few if any black women who frequent these clubs. I have never heard of any clubs closing down around where I live because a lot of black guys started to come into the club and hit on white women. If anything the clubs increased their business because the black guys would dance and buy the white women a lot of drinks to get the white women drunk so they could go home and have sex with them. Other black guys I see just like to dance and converse with the white women and not really try to take them home with them. I think if anything the white women who go to the clubs just love to dance with the black guys more than they do the white guys. Let's face the facts here, there is not many white guys who can dance good, if they do dance good then they have to learn from the black guys. Changing a club's music from hip-hop to hard rock or country really isn't going to stop any black guys from going there especially if they like to dance with white women. They would just dance to different music but many white club owners who want to stop black men from going to the club think they can stop the black guys from coming in there if they change the music format to music that a lot of white people like to dance to. I think some white women at these clubs aren't really trying to go home with a black guy or have sex with a black guy they just love to dance with a black guy. However I have seen some of the brothers dance and bump and grind and rub up against the white women when they dance with them so you might as well think they are having sex with them on the dance floor. Then again I know many white men who like to dance with black women because they think many black women can dance better than white women can. However where I live I don't find many white men going for the black women unless they are dressed a little bit ghetto or they have a lot of black male friends with black female friends. Since I do not go to the mainly all-black clubs because the women that I am attracted to white women I will go the mainly all-white clubs or mixed clubs to where there are white and black people. I have never heard of that happening here so maybe your experience in DC is different.

I live in Boston and we used to boycott Landsdowne Street because they would use some of the same tactics: Raise the cover, implement dress code i.e. no timbs, stop playing R&B and hip hop, implement a techno only policy, pressure the DJ to throw in some AC/DC in between 50 Cent and Jaheim, or require college IDs.

This is what I was getting at earlier about the racist undertone.

I must be one lucky man then. Never have i come across anything of these racial overtones in South Florida. The only thing i know they pull off is the college IDs which is about it. That is no problem with me anyways. Apart from that, its really great. Most of the clubs i go to are very diverse and there's not a specific race as such that frequents a particular club. I wont go into any details about what happens in the clubs but its all positivity.
