Can you tell somebody's race by looking at them?

    Interesting web test:

How easy is it to group people into “races” based on appearance? What about using individual traits? Does everybody classify the same way?

Try your hand at "sorting" individuals and see if it matches how people think of themselves.

    (Click on "begin sorting" first!)

i had the strangest feeling that you'd score well on that. by the way, 75 percent is one heck of a lot better than what i got on it...haha

You can't really tell because they made all of the black folks on there with lighter skin. Not to mention the pictures are distant. Lightskin mixed in with distance anyone will be hard to tell what race.

But thats also the reason why you ask people's backgrounds instead of just making your assumptions. Only race you can really tell what race they are or have in them are black people with wooly hair, nappy hair, afros, etc. because it has already been proven scientifically we are the only race with BLACK skin and wooly hair.

Well, I think it's not possible to do "good" or "not so good" in this kind of test because that's certainly not purpose of this test (and the question is anyway: what is doing good in this case, really?)

What I like about it is that it gives plenty of food for thought.

The only thing scientifically proven is that there isn't such a thing as race.
