Along with economic power will come military power. China will someday challenge the United States over Taiwan. The Chinese are currently developing their naval forces and have a five million man active army at their disposal and millions more in reserve. With so much of our debt tied in their hands I wonder if it's a matter of time they will call our bluff. My guess they see the United States as a paper tiger.

China is still a developing, undemocratic country.

China is at least two decades behind the United States in terms of military technology and capability. The United States has the edge in maritime, aerospace, and technological dimensions of military power.

Much of what you stated is true, however, China is determine to become a major force in world politics. With a highly energic people in which education is a major force in their favor it will be a matter of time in which china will have the assets it needs to power play. Already china is making major strides in manufacturing, scientific computing and energy creation. While the west sleeps, china will awaken to become a major world power.

First of all, they will never challenge the U.S.A. over taiwan. Taiwan belongs to China. Secondly, They are having huge issues governing their people let alone going to war. This is why you have seen such a huge leap in energy. Lastly, The united states is more open on matters than china. Unless china embraces the free market, the world will not look at it as a safe place to do business.

You obviously not a historian. You never say never to history. History is replete with examples of what was not suppose to happen but did from the belief that America prior to WW2 would never be attacked directly to the Fall of the Soviet Union. Never underestimate your competitor. Unfortunately, Americans who are so short sighted anyway will never see the boot that will come and kick them in the ass again.

I am not a historian but I do know Taiwan belongs china. The USA has no claims to china. History is painted all over with things that were not suppose to happen and did not happen.More so than things that were not suppose to happen and happened.

Oh please....bunch of B.S. I am no fan of the Chinese, but I trust them before the American, French, and British interests in Africa.

China's GDP per capita is about $3,800, lower than that of the United States ($45,000), but also lower than Brazil ($10,000) and South Africa ($5,000).

Just heard on my radio here at the office that Chian has developed a new generation of super missiles that can destroy ships up to a thousand miles from land, they are also developing anti-satillite missiles and missiles that will take down stealth aircraft. Once i can get the story in print I will post it. So much for the believe that China can never take on the United States. Someday they will.
