The big story of Secretary of Defense Chuck Hagel has been fired got so little coverage because of the racial conflict of the last few days. A even bigger story that I'm hearing is that President Obama may appoint a woman as Hagel's replacement. Hagel's problem was in his dealing with President Obama's inner circle who shut him out on many critical issues. Obama's media told the story that the President lost confidence in him. I say he did not need him anymore as the Republican token of his administration. We live in an interesting time.
I really liked Hagel. I felt he was a conservative that held accountabilty. So sad to seem go. I disagree with you. Obama having hagel was a good choice. He saw Israel for what it was. The USA rubber stamps too much of Israel's actions. I felt Hagel was the best chance of having someone independent of Israel. Someone who looked at it objectively like Obama.
I agree with you. Hagel stood on the issue of the Israeli's destroying the homes of those who attack the Jewish state. He argued that the families of those attackers should not be punished for what their family members commit. He reasoned that revenge is perpetuated by those families whose homes are destroyed. The cycle of violence never ends as a result. I hate to see him go too. He is one of the few Republicans who I respect for taking stands not popular with his party. Sean Hannity is calling him everything short of a traitor to the Republican Party. I wish there were more people with the courage of their convictions instead of straddling both sides of a fence on the issues. Good communicating with you.
