Just heard now trying to accuse the Democratic Party of being divisive and forceful in the agenda and the President not being honest, while painting Romney as some relate-able kindred person who is looking our for the country. The tone of her voice comes off as bitter. My speculation is that, given she's married to James Carville, she lost some sort of bet that she now has to abide by. Also, I can't really knock off his personal tastes in clothing. Some call it tacky, some call it stingy. I, on the other hand, would call it resourceful. He's a classic New Orleanian with that sort of look. And believe it or not, they're happily married together and the reason why they have stayed this long together is because they don't discuss politics inside the home. It works. There are a lot of couples that are divided on ideology and party lines...yet they stay together. As for whether who wears the pants in the family? One thing that this election has left me realizing is that a major part that the current incarnation of the Republican party appeals to is beyond out of touch. I have encountered some wonderful comedic doozies on places like the Drudge Report, which I checked out for pure morbid curiosity. Bitter laced statements such as And the best of them all. Now I am someone who considers myself a moderate independent thinker and when I see views like those I just have to say even though I may be a respectful, intelligent, well spoken black male in this nation, to them I might as well be a big, black, buck Field Negro, fresh off the plantation only fit to say "yes suh, massah" The rancorous, vitriolic sentiments void of perspicacity is truly the stuff of a banal perspective. To say that the deep end of the pool Republicans are out of touch with the realities of America today is truly an understatement. They are drowning and can't even realize it.
There are two views in the Republican party clashing, those of the Tea Bagger, rah-rah conservative mold that thinks more conservatism is the answer in a changing America. A view which appeals in Texas, Alabama, Arkansas, Montana, Wyoming, Idaho and the other assorted Red States on the map. There is then the other part that feels that the Party must become inclusive and form a broader base. Something that would seem like common sense because failure to do so will continue to produce the results we saw last night in the elections to come. The Hispanic population is only going to keep growing and Democrats have it in the bag right now in places like Colorado, Nevada, Florida minus Cubans. If you look at things, its not like Republicans will be taking down California, New York, Illinois anytime soon. So if the Democrats can keep building up in Florida, North Carolina, etc then they have taken over places Republicans once counted on.
Ever since William F. Buckley reinvented conservatism, the element of dogma drove up the conservative movement. In fact, it's quite insulting to even refer to them as conservatives. Let's just give them the de facto label, which perfectly accentuates their behavioral deficiencies: Reactionaries. They are devoid of reality and would listen to a flea with a lop-sided cranium. I have to also admit, media plurality is a problem too. Though I love to keep the internet free and allow just about everything and anything to be expressed in the fashion of First Amendment rights, the fact that there are people whose voices are expressed ranging from Alex Jones to Rush Limbaugh, the conservative ideology not only has been lost, but also considerably dead in the wake of the current voices espousing poor-man's rhetoric. They want to think that we've always been a strict capitalist nation, founded on Christian principles, and above all, the times of old were better for everyone. It's not that they are distraught at the status quo. Rather, they just reminisce about the fabled past they cling to so dearly. I would also say that the polarity shift in the demographics. Civil rights on all fronts and progressivism continues to surge ahead. They will be left in the dust, while the rest of us move forward and embrace the ever growing change in this nation and in the more connected, collective world.
LOL, brilliantly stated. It is the very notion that they see change around them, change they cannot embrace that fosters the ignorance in their sentiments. What they do not realize or willfully ignore is that that very behavior is their undoing moving forward.
Change is hard for some people when they live in this small world of their for a long time. The minute its either challenged or expanded, fear drowns rationale and then, bestow to you, the model "Ignoramus Du Dickwad." But they are a slow dying breed as it is anything. But, we will see if this progressive momentum continues at this pace or slowly dwindle to a stagnant area.
