Velkrum, I sure as hell don't see how this country is worse off with the current President. He actually made some promises on domestic issues and yet, lo and behold, he still have to go through congressional approval to get things done. It's called Checks and Balances. If this was a more authoritarian government and that President Obama had SOLE authority on what to do, then chances are:

- We would have a decent health-care system which would benefit everyone.
- Mandate corporations to pay more and eliminate a lot more tax loopholes.
- There wouldn't be a residual number of troops in Iraq.
- Environmental policies would be at the forefront.

But despite all that, what's keeping him from really doing all that? Neoconservative, overly right wing nuts.

While he's no Dennis Kucinich (whom I originally favored), I still favor Obama's policies since he's the best person we've had since the previous administration. He's a left-leaning centrist and has to act on it in order to get things done in Congress. This is an issue from day one. He's a leftist President in charge of a center-right nation.

As for the economy, it's a wishy washy situation and unpredictable. For anyone to be able to gamble the market perfectly would require those mathematicians who are skilled in probability and differentials. Numbers and data, mixed with greed from business corporations took this country as a volatile downturn and we're seeing this W-shaped recovery as it stands. We've been in a depression before, but have gotten out. The hole is bigger, but ultimately we will be able to survive this, even if we lose our status as the number one superpower in a few years.

Furthermore, full body scanners and all that mess isn't a major issue. Only dire crazy people would get all uptight about such things. We haven't lost our freedoms whatsoever. However, we voluntarily give up much of our privacy and it's all thanks to social media like Facebook. It's not the fault of the social network as much as YOU willingly give up that bit of information.

And yet...

Technology advancements contribute to all this as well. We may not have the privacy that we once had, but should we allow ourselves to be TOO watchful and paranoid as though this is Brave New World? That's very silly.

And lastly, I can tell you're a fanatic of organic foods and all that and it's commendable. I'm sure if you posted a picture of yourself, you're probably lean and mean, and perhaps GREEN. But needless to say, regardless of what's in the chemicals, it hasn't deterred the fact that we have longer age expectancies compared to yesteryear. So again, what's with the paranoia?
