Well, it's all over. The old man got creamed by Obama. The pundits afterwards (I watched on NBC and PBS) were saying how McCain held his own, but they must not had been watching the same debate I was. I heard even FauxNews had to give it to Bam. Obama was cool calm and collected as usual, while McCain rattled off his usual vagaries and talking points. A few times, McCain stepped on Obama while he was talking, which I found disrespectful. NBC showed a split-screen the whole time and you could see McCain's head twisting like the Exorcist while Obama was talking, blinking uncontrollably, and ready to explode. Just the traits I'm looking for in a president. When Bob Schiffer asked McCain if his VP candidate was ready to lead, the way McCain tried to sell her was laughable. Of course, Obama was confident in Biden. Even David Brooks on PBS, who is pro-McCain, says Obama is likely to win. He compared Obama's unshakable cool to a mountain. "You wake up in the morning, it's there. You can throw a bomb at it, it doesn't change." These are just the highlights off the top of my partisan, pro-Obama head. Check YouTube, Cnn.com and others for the real moments.
I was bowling and didn't get a chance to watch the debate last night. I've read a little about how it went, and from watching the other debates, I agree about McCain. I don't see him as a calm, cool, collected leader that this country is in desperate need of right now. I still have some research to do on both candidates, and their VPs, but it's still looking like the choice is clear in Obama/Biden.

WOW! I'm not suprised to say the least!!! One man said: "He's a nigger. He isn't a first stringer, he's a second stringer". WOWWWWW!!!!!!!!
Scary, scary, scary!! :smt107 Thank God this all in small towns. How about that young man who said that Palin "definitely has the Holy Spirit" in her?? Did he not look exactly like the actor who played the preacher in "There Will Be Blood"? Wow. The continued close-minded mentality of people is astonishing, but sadly not surprising. I can only hope that an Obama Presidency will open at least a few of these individuals' eyes...
That video clip is produced by Al-jezeera. To be fair, you must always consider the source before you make an assessment.
Actually, I thought mccain won the debate. He was more energetic, hit Obama in some key areas, definitely controlled the debate, and easily had the memorable line of the night. (However, I dont think its gonna be enough for mccain the catch Obama.) One thing we must remember about the debates is that Obama's gotta fight with one hand behind his back. He cant be as emotional or fiery as mccain or they are gonna be alot of conservatives (read:white people) who say, "yep, he's just like all the other angry black men." and there go the independent votes. Ive found that the debates are really a big waste of time. They dont ask the questions that people want and quite often the candidates dont even answer the questions. Hell, we've found out more about the candidates when they do one-on-one interviews. (Obama with o'rielly, palin in her two bombs.) The only person who has given straight forward answers each and every time is Biden. (Yeah, Obama has ducked and dodged some questions.) Like I said before, if we want some real answers and what to find out what these guys are really made of...lets put them in front of their most critical pundits and see what happens. Send palin and mccain the msnbc ("Hi Keith Olberman") and Biden and Obama to fox news.
No. They are a global news network and they are covering the US election (spiced with their own agenda) for a world audience.
I had to explain to somebody recently about your first point. Obama can't let loose. And Obama already sat down with O'Reilly. Haven't checked YouTube for it but I heard Obama did well in the lion's den. Of course we haven't seen the reverse; McCain sitting down with Olbermann. But we saw what happened when Palin talked to Couric. :-D
What's wrong with Al-Jazeera? I've seen the channel before. They show the bodies and human cost of the Iraq War that US channels don't. Bush doesn't even allow the coffins of our soldiers to be filmed when they come home. As you can see they told the truth about the racist side of this election. If the USA was in the right, they'd have nothing to fear from Al-Jazeera.
Not a thing if you don't mind an anti-US agenda. I am glad we have a free press that features right-leaning networks like Fox and leftist ones as well. It is however, important to realize that an agenda exists in the broadcast. A-J clearly has an anti-US agenda. Ironically, some liberal Americans who tolerate or even praise A-J have a problem tolerating the one and only conservative network (Fox).
Fox does more damage than Al-Jazeera. When I see somebody on Al-Jazeera shouting at an elected veteran US senator, disrespecting him and telling him to shut up, turning red and frothing at the mouth, I'll let you know.
That's your opinion, but the last time I checked Fox News was not the mouthpiece for the world's most dangerous terrorist organization.
As a matter of fact, i cannot wait for this election to just come to an end already. I don't even care anymore who wins. If Obama wins, yay for America but if this nation is dumb enough to vote for McCain, whatever. Just let's hear about something else from now on.
