I've been personally invited to a private screening of "Diary of A Tired Black Man" tonight by the producer Tim Alexander. Even though when I saw the trailer for this film, I got so offended that I called him and cussed his ass out to the best of my ability. Taking that into consideration, I was shocked the director/producer felt it necessary to personally contact me and invite me to his screening twice (the first time, I couldn't attend due to a prior engagement). This title is the most unnerving message that I've ever read in my life. It is so unappreciative of Black mothers and reeks of ignorance due to the low presence of Black male role models and nearly missing daily participating Black fathers in the Black family/community. Black Women have picked up the slack for the abandonment of too many Black men and had to take on the job as the provider and the protector. Males are the NATURAL providers and the protectors of their families and their communities and BM as a whole HAVEN'T done their jobs, i.e. not providing enough=too much poverty AND not protecting enough=too much crime. Therefore, I find it simply ridiculous for any sane Black man to say he is tired. Black women are the ones that are tired of doing nearly everything by themselves or being the working wives and nurturing mother, who now has two jobs to do--bring home the bacon and cook it too. Black men wonder why many BW are angry, strong, tough, mouthy, etc--it's because BW simply have too much to do to be submissive all of the time. If BM want a domesticated, soft, nurturing BW, then provide for us and protect us and they'll magically see BW be the feminine woman, females are made to be. I'm really looking forward to seeing his complete film, maybe he changed his focus or maybe he is simply a Black woman hater because he certainly believes White woman are better judging by his movie trailer. I'll be writing a blog/review tomorrow and posting it on Much love for my hard-working under appreciated sistahs, who want our men to do a better job of taking care of their families, their communities, and the Black race. Pearl Jr. After many years of relationship failure, I have a man that provides and protects me. I've developed a plan and I share it with my sistahs. The techniques, strategies, and tough love methods are written in my book. Ladies, we can participate in making our men better men. After all, it's only natural, therefore a few changes in our behavior will get us what we want. Being a career woman should be a choice for females, not a requirement for the majority of Black women. WELL I'VE SEEN THE MOVIE!!! YOU CAN HEAR A HOT POTATO DEBATE TOMORROW OCTOBER 27 AT NOON PST ON . This is CBS radio out of Atlanta, Georgia on the Shelley Wynter Show. The director Tim Alexander and myself will be discussing our different points of view.
I'm a very sane black man and I'm tired of be compared to criminals, thugs, beaters, drug users, dead beat fathers and the terminally unemployed. If a person can't see me and the things I do because they are so hellbent on being right.... More power to you. You go be whatever it is you want to be and I'll go be happy. Why do you pop-up only when you want to promote a book, your website or some event with you in it? Is it really about us or you?
PearlJR, I spent some time on your website this afternoon. Interesting stuff. I do agree with some of the things you say. Peace.
* PLEASE NOTE * If this thread starts going off topic -- which is about the movie -- then it will be removed.
^^^ I agree it should stay on topic but it seems to me that her post is a little more than just about the movie... Really.
I don't think that we'll be hearing from her again in this topic. She's only here to market her ideas and her book. Apparently, she's not here to discuss.
I want to see that movie. So I can check out what its all about. But what is with going off on this rant about bm. When was it my job to take care of someone? Bm should get blamed because some bw grew up with crappy lives?
You know, while I will be the first to admit being guilty of doing this, we have to remember that BW like those individuals who pop up on this forum from time to time, make antagonistic posts, and then run away before anyone can respond are not, I think, the norm. Honestly, my wife and I have many BW friends that, at least to us, seem fine with the fact that I am married to her. They admit that it bothers them when they run into BM who will ONLY be with WW because it makes them feel discriminated against by their own race...a feeling I can understand because one of the reasons I started dating WW was because I felt like BW kept pushing me away for one reason or another: Not enough bling, didn't listen to Black music, acted too White, wasn't cool enough, etc. My point is: Don't allow the hatred and ignorance of a few angry, hurt BW color your perceptions about ALL BW. Just my 2 cents worth of fluff for the morning. Peace.
Of course it won't. Sorry if I come off a bit patronising here, but I think it goes without saying that when people mention a specific group of people, they realise that not all people in that group are the same. You wouldn't say all WM are all racist, because its just a generalization. It's because it's always the BM that the angry BW are attacking, so it's gonna hit home with the BM posters here, who are the opposite of what they are always claimed to be by bitter BW. You know what, when I started dating BM all my BW friends were for it, which was great, so I certainly understand what you're saying. Got so much love for them!
I personally would never a poster like this PearlJr change the way I feel about black women in general, especially when posters like Miss Jenkins are around. Where is she anyway?
Wow a black women took something overly offensive and called and cussed someone out? Wow thats strange, never heard of that before.
Great post. I am a bit guilty of letting a few bad apples ruin the way I view the rest of the bunch (that goes for all races) but I am working through it and am gradually changing. Anyway, nice post.
It's funny how some people can claim one group of people and then want to boycott those same individuals. Oh, the irony!!!
