Looks like the rule makers and standard setters are finally coming to grips, with the little known fact that a gay guy, is just as effective at being a bullet sponge as a straight one.

Don't ask, don't tell is just a way to keep the homophobes happy, both the ones in the military and the ones in the general public. Honestly this idea that gays will go around attacking them in the shower, or jumping them in their bunks is completely moronic. Not to mention the belief that a gay soldier is any less able to defend their country than a straight soldier, is offensive. This 'I'd be uncomfortable sharing a bunker with a gay' attitude is ridiculous, I think they assume the gay guy is going to be more concerned with decorating the bunker than defending it. I'm pretty sure all soldiers get the same training and are therefore presumed to be equally effective, people need to get past the stereotypes and just deal.
