Good for Kobe. He can only make it deep into the postseason when he has a loaded team. Unlike dudes such as Iverson or LeBron who carried horrible teams to the NBA Finals, the Kobe-led Lakers were getting thumped in the first round of the playoffs by the fucking defensively-challenged Phoenix Suns after Shaq left. Fortunately Memphis was willing to give up Gasol to the Lakers for nothing and things got better for the Black (rapist) Mamba. Of course after awhile having Gasol, Bynum and Artest wasn't enough for the "greatest player of all time" and Orlando had to step in and give the Lakers Dwight Howard without getting virtually anything back in return (how generous). And, oh yeah, Nash decided to come to LA as well. How many Hall of Famers does Kobe had to play alongside just to win championships? It is arguable he will have ended up playing with three big men who will one day make the Hall of Fame. If only he had more talent to play with all of his seasons. He may have 10 rings by now!

Shaq and Phil Jackson are thankfully gone, but I can't love the Lakers again until after that MJ-imitating, disingenuous, sex-offender asshole has retired as well.

People call Kobe a wannabe MJ because other people say that, as opposed to Kobe saying anything about wanting to be like him.

Maybe you're too young to remember but when Kobe first arrived on the scene he was much more outspoken about being like MJ than he is now. He even carried himself like Jordan and talked, during press conferences and in the locker room, EXACTLY like Jordan. People in the media who had covered Jordan made mention of it. Kobe was emulating #23 big time. So back then detractors of Kobe would often deride him by calling him a MJ-wannabe. A harmless little insult. Why do you think it is so important for Kobe to get his sixth ring?

People forget these things about Kobe. They forget he came out of high school with such a high opinion of himself that he warned teams outside of a few big markets that they better not draft him because he would not play for them (which many felt led to Charlotte trading his rights immediately to the Lakers after the Hornets drafted him). They forget that from the very beginning Kobe loved playing Hero Ball (wanting to be like MJ again) which would often lead to his team losing games. This is something Kobe never outgrew which is a shame because he was never as good at playing Hero Ball as Jordan was. People forget that Kobe refused to shake the hands of the Phoenix Suns players (even left the court early I believe) after his Shaq-less Lakers fell to the Suns in the first round of the playoffs. I was laughing when folks got on LeBron for doing this to Orlando a few years ago by stating it was the type of inexcusable act that someone like Kobe would never pull. How quickly they forget.

I don't deny Kobe's greatness (although he simply doesn't reach Jordan's level). But I haven't forgotten some of the tacky moves pulled by that asshole either. Lke throwing his teammates under the bus after every post season defeat. Or that event in the Denver hotel during one summer with that retarded-looking white teenage girl he rap....er, uh had sex with.

How do you guys watch games? I thought about investing in a Roku player and getting NBA League Pass. I refuse to get cable or satellite TV service.

I don't remember a lot of that. I was just getting into ball when Kobe got drafted.

    DirecTV.

NBA League Pass is pretty good if you wanna see non-LA teams.

I would see all of the Lakers home games on KCAL 9 and then all the away games would be broadcasted on any other network, TNT, ESPN, ABC.

I never missed one game Laker game and didn't have the NBA League Pass.

LTV on KCAL is dead as of this year. Most home and away games will be broadcasted through Time Warner. The Lakers signed a twenty year $3 billion deal with them for broadcast rights. As of now, no deal is in place to have other carriers (DIRECTV, Dish, etc.) show those games, but that will probably change.

The nationally broadcasted games that are normally shown on TNT, ABC/ESPN are still in effect but no more road games on KCAL9.

    Ah, yes.

    I made a mistake.

I would see all of the away games on KCAL 9 and every home game on Fox Sports West.

So the contract with KCAL has expired? Terrible.

The thing I hate about cable or satellite service is how they bundle a bunch of bullshit you don't care about with the one or two things you do. Always watch out for that second year too; the price usually goes through the roof.

No more KCAL or FSW for Lakers games, almost everything goes through Time Warner now.

Get that HULU plus as well. Less than 20 bucks a month I get all my shows and movies with my internet. I pay less than 50 bucks a month on home entertainment. Can't beat that.

fast forward to June, 6 mins left 93-90 la down , Kobe ( and for the dude here killing him) is the 2nd best premieter play last 30 yrs not to shabby, can no longer get any shot he want and from anywhere on the floor, artest is a stand in the corner jump shooter now, Nash can't defend 2nd rate guards let alone harden and Westbrook, Howard is great but nothing like shaq,'throw it in he gets you a bucket or brick 2 free throws, Howard will be very good in pick n roll with Nash but that's it, put backs, Kobe ain't hanging in the corner while old ass Nash and Howard play a 2 man game, gasol plays way better with Spain on his shirt than NBA, you cats are fooling yourself okc spurs still better, so is Miami and bulls when rose gets his wheel fixed and 25 games under his belt and don't sleep on Memphis they were never healthy all last year

Pau Gasol should be traded to Memphis to be with his brother. Now that would be something, wouldn't it?
