the Blazers probably couldn't afford Pau's contract. They're still eating Greg Oden's contract!

 

each team has a min and max salary cap, if Portland so chose to rebuild around Howard and alredge they can crunch enough numbers to make it so.
What I like about the trade is Portland is the perfect city for Dwight, move would kick start him as the sac town trade for cwebb did for him (IMO)
plus I think the rook lillard has enough moxie where Kobe would respect him, la has a great young pg who can extend Kobe career and carry on as the franchise player,
he can be very good in Portland but la would make him a star (IMO)
