If we go over the cliff, that will put America back into another full blown recession. Both sides recognize that it will cause a job loss of 2 million people as GDP drops. I like the deal the Republicans are proposing and I might support cutting that down to $500,000 if absolutely necessary to get a deal done. But $250,000 is too low. There are almost 7 million Americans who make $200,000 or more.
