This is just a short one for all the Brits on the Forum, and all those who know a bit about him anywhere else. Everytime i turn on the T.V ref the economic climate everyone is throwing knives at Gordon Brown, hes done alot over the years for this country, improving the lives of ordinary working people, pensioners, better approach to student funding, does everyone forget that under the conservatives we had no tax credits system to help allow people to study, pay for childcare, ie making employment easier for those with low incomes. Helping them to help themselves !! Better NHS shorter waiting lists, state schools at there best compared to Conservative run times. Its not perfect things still happen but i have an Aunt who's a probation officer another 2 Aunts who are social workers and a cousin, 2 work with at risk one with placement fostering, 3/4 also worked under the conservative goverment they fear another conservative goverment and its gaffs. People picking up the bad bits, not seeing the reasoning, Last night there was some conservative on meridian tonight berating the governments decision to buy Northern Rock bank out of trouble in 2007 , if they hadnt it would have seen the onset of the current situation much sooner. Every time i get into a discussion with someone, ,they berate Brown in many different way even likeableness, which i didnt hear many mention when the sun was shining. Do you ! think hes the best man for the job ,if you do please tell us why, if not, why not! I think he's a Labour man through and through he'll always have my vote. In any upcoming election. What do you think especiallly those that lived here under conservative gov.
I like Gordon Brown. My uncle lives in England and has met him once and says he is a gentlemen. I don't know much about Conservativism in England.???
Your uncle is a wise man and his wife is apparently very nice aswell non attention seeking, she came to visit my sons school in july and made a very good impression. I really like the fact that he did not go to private school like so many of his counterparts he had at a young age the education that could be accessed by all and is now Prime Minister. Conservatives are the ones who mainly look after the interests of those who are already rich, there is off course alot more to it than that, similar but different to a American Republican, double standards ie they started the belly up millenium dome project which Labour had to finish due to the investment, then criticised its completion, they are also responsible for privatising the cleaning in hospitals ie them answering to different people instead of medical staff and so on, maybe leading to these M.R.S.A issues. I was at state school when John Major was in power that school struggled for everything it had including toilet roll lol. Thanks for your opinion
Republicans here in America wants everyone to be rich. But they want you to work for it first. Can't have high taxes. It will stop you from acheiving finacial freedom. Republicans want you to be independent and free to do what you want to do. Most Republicans think Gordon Brown is O.K.
Good to know someone is o.k keen on him lol. Not sure what the view off the labour party is regarding america but our home Secretary Jacqui Smith was keen on Obama before the election, well thats what she said on question time a month ago, off course she doesn't speak for the whole, think most of them would have been happy with anyone but Bush i suppose. What is your tax rate the way ive been listening on the thread, it seems your tax rate differs from ours quite a bit. We have national insurance payments then income tax , council tax and stamp duty when buying a house which if purchase price is over £250,000 i think its 2%. Least favourite here is council tax formerly poll tax, id like to know if you read this again whether you have an equivalent over there ? Laters V777
