I do like gospel music! and this one is a great song that you posted. I mostly listen to Nana though, i like him a lot. here is one of my favorits songs by him.

The only good part of church or christianity. We used to bump Kirk Franklin in class back in 3rd grade. GP n' shit. Gospel is good shit. I just drown out the god parts.

I love Gospel music, this lady mother is Dottie Rambo, wrote thousands of gospel songs, and has passed away but she was my favorite artist for many, many years. I then met Reba, shown here, and we have been friends. I absolutely love her music.

Basically, I ignore the fact that they are talking about god, and focus on the great singing and instrument playing.

 

That would be like enjoying blues but ignoring the part about heartbreak.

By the way, Gospel - God = R&B Music

 

Then I like R&B. Callitwutyawant. But I don't feel the same vibe in a lot of gospel as I do in R&B, but eh...

 

No sweat. Your tastes are your own. I was just saying that much of R&B is derived from Gospel. (Teddy Pendergrass, Aretha, etc).

 

I love Mahalia Jackson. I had her tape when I was in high school. "Gonna move on up a little higher, I'm gonna lay down my cross, get me a crown."

And her "Motherless Child"... it must be heard.

I do love me some good ol' rockin' Gospel music. Been playing some Marvin Sapp, Pastor Hezekiah Walker and Fred Hammond lately .....

Oh, anyone think Yolanda Adams' version of "Amazing Grace" is the most magical thing you've ever heard? I'm a Catholic, but i really enjoy these Pentecostal rhythms a lot early Sunday morning when i'm gettin' ready for church.

 

Of course, Eastern Orthodox.

 

I also love Marion Anderson, although she had an opera voice and not a "gospel" voice. My family had her record back in Russia, and I have her CD now. I keep meaning to go to her museum in Philly. I'll do it this summer.
