The special interests have a way of demonizing anyone out there that doesn't completely support their agendas. Now, being a black man myself, I took this a little harshly at first, but then I cooled off on it. Now on further reflection, I wonder, did he feel entitled to tell off the NAACP due to the fact he adopted a black child??? It's a fair question. He happens to be a republican, but has anyone noticed the trend of GOP candidates that have adopted black children. First John McCain, now Lepage. I'm sure there are others i'm not mentioning. I don't like this new "fad" of rich white people adopting poor black kids as though it's the new trend. 8 years ago Paris Hilton made mini puppies accessories, and now rich whites seem to be doing the same to black children of dire situations. Is it just me that sees this?? In final, I must seriously question my own perspective. When it comes down to it, anyone that is willing to take in someone not of their own blood as a family member should be commended. They usually are of third world contries and would have a very harsh life otherwise. I would do it myself if I had the means. I just feel different in these cases due to the possible political spin involved with these dudes. The GOP has proven that they will do ANYTHING to get the black vote. Fundamentally minorities should oppose EVERY GOP agenda as they generally don't support the idea of minorities in America period. Why don't they adopt kids from the pacific rim??? :smt091
I always saw whites adopting black babies and Asian babies as the equivalent to the new type of "trophy" dog. I forgot what book it was, but there is a book that describes a lot of white people desire to SAVE THE WORLD, many believe that "Oh those poor aboriginals its up to me to save them" (In America) Whites don't really have a "culture" so many of them truly believe an understanding and appreciation of another culture is irrelevant. "Love is all you need" Well meaning, maybe....but misguided I believe. I remember being in the mall and talking to my son in Japanese, and a little white lady with a little Chinese daughter comes up to me and asks "Did it take long" "Did what take long" "Did it talk long for all the paper work to go through, it took us forever" ...and it took me awhile to figure out what she was asking me. This bitch (a word I rarily use) was asking me if I adopted my son. Then she says "Where did you learn to speak Chinese" (yall know me.......I played along) "You mean you don't know" "No I didn't learn" "So how then can you teach your daughter about her culture and where she comes from, her past and rich ethnic history" "Well...I just don't have a lot of time, and we are in America so do you really think it matters" And I was getting ready to let her have it but my son came back. "1st I was speaking Japanese, and not Chinese. 2nd he is my blood son, and I did not adopt him. 3rd, if you don't believe that what made your daughter who she is important then I believe that is truly sad." ...and I left....she started to spit out a couple "I'm sorry-ies" but had I stayed it would not have ended well.
Am I the only one who could care less about culture? All we need is more shit to seperate us as people.
Culture runs a wide range man. You like music don't you. I'm sure you've been to a museum at some point. Even all that Us Weekly pop culture qualifies. America is a constantly evolving culture. Maybe your just referring to culturing diversity and understanding differing cultures.
