Interesting site. I'll have to look into it further. I'm not necessarily republican but... Wish it was more organized though.
well good, I think the more black people diversify their vote, the more power we have. Democrats will have to stop taking blacks for granted and Republicans will have to wake up to the issues of black people in this country. the latter is at least starting to happen, while the former just keeps being entrenched. I became a Republican on my grandpa's knee. Since Reconstruction blacks have been Republicans up to the Kennedy administration. It was the only party in the South that would even register black people. It also was the conservative force that most blacks in the south, that I knew at least understood and at the same time was open to equality. Some heroes to read about are Senator Edward Brooke of Mass; Booker T. Washington; Condeleeza Rice's family history, Martin Luther King Jr., his daughter, Shelby Steele, and Kenneth Blackwell.
Many more than that. How about U.S. Rep Joseph H. Rainey (first black U.S. Congressman), Hiram Rhodes Revels (first black U.S. Senator), Robert DeLarge, Josiah Walls, Jefferson Long, Robert Brown Elliot...there are many, many more like these heroes that you do not hear about. Can you guess what political party they belonged to? I certainly did not join this board for politics but here I simply could not help myself.
Quite frankly, the idea of any black man forming any kind of allegiance to the Republican idea is one that makes my skin crawl and one that sends chills up my spine.
For the record, I'm not voting for Barack Obama just because he's of mixed race. I think that Barack unlike previous politicians has tapped into a level of rhetoric that is bigger than just scoring political points or to show how tough you are among the heavy weights. He reminds us of the core values American people have and what and where the country is right now and that my friend has no color. Whether you are black or white or any other race, his message goes past the color lines and divisions because it speaks to the heart, the mind, and the soul. This is what is attracting a lot of people. That connection that reminds us all that we are all part of this and that we can make it better because we all have a basis of decency. Obama is needed right now, McCain is not going to win because he is too much like Bush, Obama’s message for change will prove to be the knock out punch. Obama is set up to win because America needs a new image after 8 years of straight up skull and bones satanic super ultra self serving agendas that fucked the middle and lower class so hard, the limp will take more than 4 years of Obama to heal....
That website reminds me when Easy-E went to that Republican luncheon in March of 91. He had gave money to the party. The party that had the back on African-Americans left them when first failure to hook them when Reconstuction ended, not overriding Southern filibusters when they were in control of congress in the 20's and 30's of anti-lynching legislation, and finally Nixon did not free MLK from jail plus, Goldwater voting against the Civil Rights Act. Guess who defected to the GOP? White Southern Democrats. The ones who supported Blacks now called Rockefeller Republicans don't have the power of including them and just gave them smaller crumbs. To date the GOP had not elected a house slave since J.C. Watts in the US Congress.
Perhaps he's still bitter over the republican spending cuts into social spending which forced him to look for a job instead of hanging out "keeping it real".
Don't project your issues with your uneducated ghetto cousins onto me. Too bad your allegiance to conservatives won't make those issues go away. Thanks.
Republicans like to gloss over details like that. They get in the way of their "talking points." Don't confuse them with facts.
I wasn't referring to people who are facing hard times due to a down turn in the economy and were laid off, or had their jobs out sourced overseas. In fact, with the economy on the verge of tanking, I wouldn't be surprised if they received nor opposed to extended government assistance to these people. These people worked and are still willing to work. I have issues with the people whole do nothing all day, don't take responsibility for the decisions they made regarding their lives, shun education, always blame others for what ails them and then feel that they're entitled to live of the hard work of others.
Another typical conservative tactic: childish personal attacks when there's no merit to their arguments i.e. "Michael Moore is a Big Fat Idiot," etc. Conservatives aren't really well-known for creative or logical thinking.
