money is not equal to power. The american public can always out vote the corporations. They don't! Look at the numbers of the mid term elections. There are so many important races and yet the number of voters will be completely lower than that of the last election. The other issue is the education. People will believe exactly what they are told instead of looking at source. Small little clips(shirley sherrod) tell them what they think they should know. The american public does not want to fight with their full force. For every one lobbyist there are at least two non lobbyist voters in the united states of america. What's going on? why can't we win? too many of us are taking the blue bill(no not Viagra).

Are you kidding me? There isn't any healthcare insurance regulation. If you have a chance watch the movie Sicko. The way the insurance companies treat those who are insured is down right criminal and we're suppose to give them more unregulated money?

As for your arguement that if we don't like the system we should run for office. That's ridiculous at this point because most people can't afford to run a decent campaign and don't have the financial backing from outside investors.

And as far as your average American educating themselves on the issues.
1. Your average American doesn't have the time to inform themselves. With a 40 hr work week if you're lucky enough to work and with family obligations who can read through a 1300 page bill and decipher its meaning. The law makers bury tons of relevant issues in jargon that your average uneducated person can't understand.

2. Who's research do you believe? They all lie without accountability.

I will wholeheartedly agree with you on this. Way too many people choose the blue pill. They're lazy, sometimes completely ignorant of the facts, or just plain cynical to care anymore.

It's sad. I'm a HUGE advocate for voting. I vote in damn near every election. Because that's my right and I exercise it to the best of my ability. There could be sweeping change happening in this country if people would take a little time to research the candidates, research the issues and research the solutions to those issues. But, alas, most people are content with whatever happens to them.

Daily. Do you watch the news? The only reason it doesn't happen here is because our government has a better system of balancing desperation and distractions. I bet my car that if the middle eastern countries that had suicide bombers rose the standard of living just a little so that people could afford tvs and computers to tweet and facebook suicide bombing would virtually disappear trust me.

I've been saying for years that the reason nothing gets done in this country because as long as people can buy their Acuras and Lexuses and have the latest iPhones and laptops and TVs, they could give a rat's ass about what's going on in our government.

Dude I've never been in the military so I'm sure you have intel that I don't but as far as I've seen is the terrorist organization targets young impressional men who are unemployed with very little prospects and use their common bond (religion) as an excuse to direct their frustrations at the western world. They see us as having so much which they think takes away from them but as I've stated before this is a distraction. Truth is most terrorist factions are supported by those seeking power. Religion is only a big deal to the poor. It gives hope of something better because the current situation sucks. When you have nothing its easy to believe in something that will reward you with everything you always wanted just as long as you're obedient and do as your told in this life.
When rich people with options start doing this horseshit then ill believe in the power of Allah.

The trouble is how do you do it with so many people asleep and others who get lies about the regulations and then the ones who don't want the regulations. You are going to have to compromise on what you can get. The unregulated money? I have to see proof of that. I'm not saying you are wrong. I just need proof.

Most can't run a decent campaign becuase they don't know how to. You don't need loads of money to be an elected official. You can run for state senator or representative or mayor, etc. Alvin Greene is the democratic candidate in South Carolina. Jeff Green is a billionaire and he still loss. It is about how many votes you can get. It is not about how rich you are. You have to build trust and know the people. That is why Jeff green lost and Meek won. You also don't need to run for office. You can make a bill and get that pass through.

Like I said, you get what you deserve. You don't want to do the work don't expect something good out of it. These bills are hard to pass and take a lot of time. I really believe that people could take the time to read through the bills. They don't want to. If something is important, you take the time to go through. No excuses.


Finally, your first paragraph and last explain it all. There is no regulations or oversight of the health care insurance industry. Guess why? not enough people want to take the time to try it in the american public. Some believe the american governement should stay out of it. Others simply don't care. Others are lied to. and others don't have the time like you said. This is leading to a nightmare. You can't just complain complain complain. You have to sooner or later do something. Write a bill! run for office! something man!
When you do, You'll see how bad it really is with people who don't care and don't want to do anything.

 

I can't speak for everyone but for me I don't trust anyone at all. People are fearful and lazy and most will do the wrong thing even if they don't have to do.

In your scenario you're the one with power all along. When there's only two people it doesn't matter who has money its useless.
Even if poor people have guns the government has far more not to mention chemical weapons that will cease an uprise very quickly. As long as the ruling class can dangle fear and hope on the same string we're all screwed.

 

Correct. Power doesn't have to mean who has the guns. It means who has the ability to make a difference in their environment. People who have money have the ability to change their environment to suit their purposes.

 

It could be a billion people or trillion people. If I have weapons to stop them, then I have the power. The money is useless. You are completely right. That is my point. Money is not equal to power. We have been using other methods to gain power before money was even an idea. Ultimately power=power.

The PEOPLE in government have to get there and the PEOPLE in the government have to want to do it. They may side with the poor people. I am certain Obama would not use the weapons. What keeps the ruling class ruling is that they are on top and educated. As far as I recall, Sicko was done before the reform and thus fas refering to the old system.
The new reform is an attempt to get LESS money to the insurance companies - not more.

The insurance companies under the former health care got away with murder - litterally. They deny you a precedure, and you die as a result of it - and they made money off of it.

That is one of the things the new reform is trying to change. This is done in stages and will take 4 years to go into full effect. Now - the insurance companies just get penalized by denying you 100 dollars per day per person if I remember the numbers correct. Thats pretty lame, but I see the scope and will let the precess take place for the next 4 years as planned to reach the end stage.

When the bill was preseneted there was a lot of anti Obama entities that took the chance to smear Obama and go on a propaganda "tour" spreading plain lies and missconceptions about his reform. All they wanted to do was for Obama to fail. Thats all.
Seems to be that many are still buing their bs. Everybody should go read the reform from beginning to end.

Is the new heathcare reform perfect? By no means! Is it better than what we had??? Hellz to the yes!

The profit that heath insurance companies were making was obscene and needs to be regulated. Both based on denying pre-existing conditions and denying you the care you should have.

So in essense, this reform will get more people insurance and stop the denials for treatment. People that dont want insurance? Well, I dont want to pay their 200K bill they accrue when they fall and break their leg so I dont feel sorry for them whatsoever (I have close friend - selfemployed - that decided he didnt need heath insurance -that went and broke is femur, guess what...).
Its about the people that could not get insurance, or would have to pay some insane dollar amount to get it or get denied essential care.

LIke I said before, noone should be able to make profit on basic health insurance. Make it a multi tier system where everyone can get basic insurance. No profit for the insurance companies for basic and then the other tiers, that is where the companies can make profit. That will protect the poor. Similar structures are in place in Germany and other countries.


Again, the reform isnt perfect but its way better than what we had.

 

Until the 2012 election comes and the GOP choose their candidate and if he/she is stronger than Obama then he will be a one term president.

But if the Republicans are run by the Tea Party and pick a candidate like Sara Palin there will be another 4 years of Obama.
