    I'm joking(sort of).
Fun time! Lets all take the Harvard Project Implicit test.
The Implicit Association Test (IAT) is an experimental method within social psychology designed to measure the strength of automatic association between mental representations of objects (concepts) in memory. The IAT requires the rapid categorization of various stimulus objects, such that easier pairings (and faster responses) are interpreted as being more strongly associated in memory than more difficult pairings (slower responses).

The most prominent implicit association test is one that measures bias on race

    post your results here.

    mine:

Your data suggest a slight automatic identification with Victim as compared to Bigot.
Your data suggest little to no automatic association of Black and White with Bigot and Victim.

Feedback on the IATs you Completed

You completed two IATs in this study. We would like to give you feedback about each.

Personal Perceived Discrimination . This IAT measured how strongly you associate yourself with being either a victim or a bigot in discriminatory contexts. Depending on the magnitude of your result, your automatic associations may be described as 'slight', 'moderate', 'strong', or 'little to no identification'.

Group Perceived Discrimination . This IAT measured how strongly you associate social groups (blacks vs. whites) with being either victim or bigot in discriminatory contexts. Depending on the magnitude of your result, your automatic associations may be described as 'slight', 'moderate', 'strong', or 'little to no association'.

I would take the test if I did not have to sign up...

As open as I like to see myself, I'm sure I'd rank on there some place. :(

I tried, but an error occurred during the test, and I never got back to it.

Didn't understand why they had to put in all those politicians...

I've taken a similar test somewhere earlier though, I'll try to find it. That site had tests for all kind of discrimination. I remember that I'm not a racist at all, but I really seemed to hate people in wheelchairs for some reason... I've done voluntary work with handicapped/ mentally challenged youth for several years (still do), so that was news to me...

as a person who is focussed on person centred therapy, i dont believe there is a test which can calculate such feelings. i think only the individual can measure their own feelings and opinions

stuff it. its part joke and part pseudo science for the board.

will someone just take the thing already?
of all the topics on here i think it would be interesting to see what goes on in our head.

im sorry what did you just say? i cant believe you just said that. lack of self awareness is the leading cause of many of the problems we face today.

After reading for several days, I decided my results may as well be my first post:

    Your Result
Your data suggest a slight automatic preference for African American compared to European American.
The interpretation is described as 'automatic preference for European American' if you responded faster when European American faces and Good words were classified with the same key than when African American faces and Good words were classified with the same key. Depending on the magnitude of your result, your automatic preference may be described as 'slight', 'moderate', 'strong', or 'little to no preference'

I also took another one and got a "strong preference for European Americans over Asian Americans." I have no idea why I scored what I did on either since I followed the "answer as quickly as possible" instructions.

Joining this board has been quite an education in only a few days, mostly about myself. I'm glad I found the boards and look forward to joining in more when I've had a chance to read through more threads.
