Can an omnipotent god create a more powerful being than itself? Either way you answer, that deity would no longer be omnipotent and therefore would have to be a lesser being that you wish it to be or not exist at all.

Your question is a thought puzzle:

Question: What is more powerful than an all-powerful being? Well nothing.

If a being has surpassed the limits of all other powerful beings and forces in the universe, then there is nothing that can be more powerful than said being.

    However.

Given its possession of limitless power, one imagines that an omnipotent being could lessen its own powers then create a being more powerful than itself. Or perhaps it would have to create an equally powerful being first, then lessen its powers?

I don't believe in gods so this is purely speculative to me, but it would make for an interesting philosophical discussion or comic book plotline. 8)

I wish I had an answer to your question. I started reading the bible a long time ago, but then I skipped to the end and that ruined it for me.

    My bad.
