I Wish There Were a Racial Issues Section On This Forum

I wish there were a section on this forum for black men (and the white women who participate) to discuss various racial issues of interest to them. For example, I have many concerns about the extent to which this self-destructive thug culture is influencing black youth. I see many things that continue to bother me, and I would like to share some of these things with fellow black men on here, but there isn't a section specifically designed for that right now.

    Hey Shaft!

I agree that there should be a place for BM to discuss the race related issues that affect them, but I have to say that I don't think this forum is necessarily the appropriate place for that.

This site is called White Women Black Men, and I think that it might be best to discuss issues that are specific to the black community in an appropriate forum (maybe on BlackPlanet... I don't really know.)

It has been discussed in other topics here that the WW members here do not seem to post enough and it is my feeling that such topics, although they would be educational might further alienate the WW members of this board.

I do however, think that it is very important for WW who date BM to be aware of issues in "the community", especially if they are going to be raising bi-racial children, but like I said, I don't necessarily think this site would be the best place for that.

    Just my 2 cents!

I totally see where PearlGirl is coming from. We have enough tensions here already and such tensions will cause even more tensions. A simple comment pointing out a flaw might be excessively misinterpreted by some nutcases and accusations of racism will start to fly around the place. Next thing you know, immature comments follow. We can save that for some other place. And you know that white people do not like to speak of issues relating to the black community for the aforementioned reason. I feel we should discuss issues that relate to BM and WW, not just WW. I am not sure if this is the right comparison to use but anyway, if a section existed that talked about tanning and getting burned in the sun, we black men might feel a little out of place as we mostly do not experience such. I think we know what i am getting at.

I know where you're getting at, Cris. Both you and PearlGirl have already said enough.
