I have and other people have made the analogy that addiction is a behavior problem because you go seek out those issues like smoking, drugs and the like thus your body get accustomed to it and go thru withdrawals .

diseases on the other hand is something you done go looking for ...it finds you.

Its analogy is you are walking down the street and you see the shi$ but you step in it anyway. ( addiction)

you walk down the street and you dont see the shi$ and you step in it ( disease)

should people sue the tobacco industry after the surgeon general warned you ? should you be covered under your health insurance for self inflicted injuries ?

    what do you say ?

If I remember correctly, alcoholism is classified as a disease, so I'm guessing any other addiction is, as well.

maybe so but do you think they ( the media and the CDC , i suspect they are the ones that originated the classification) do that to make people feel better and less responsible

Addiction is an actual physiological process as well as compulsion. It's both.

I halfway agree with you. It does get get physiological. I just dont think it is a disease because it is not a behavior to me. Im not totally sold on the disease thang yet.
