Well...let me see. This dead racist punk makes a slew of flicks which don't feature any Afr-Am actors -- what does that tell you???? Duh!!! Swedish movies feature Black actors, even though the Black population there is miniscule. Spike Lee makes flicks dealing with the so-called Black experience...but, guess what??? He always has whites featured in his movies. The Kid Rasta
Just because he did not have AA actors in his films does not make the guy racist. I am sure you're well aware that there are lots of ppl and process involved in casting an actor/actress for any given project. May be the characters in his films were not written specifically for blk actors or no color actor.
Sometimes writers and directors don't include Afr. Am. in their films because they've had very little interaction with them in every day life. Before I moved to the south, that was my experience. There were no AA families or individuals in my home town. I write from time to time, and I write what I know. You can't write what you don't know or experience.
Some Asians complained years about about that exchange student on Sixteen Candles. I had not heard a word from Hughes about it. Anyway, like I said earlier he got a girlfriend unlike some films who had Black male characters. In spite of the fact he can interact with young Whites,he was unable to do that with young Blacks plus he was reclusive. My faves: Sixteen Candles,Weird Science,The Breakfast Club,NL:Vacation, and Mr.Mom.
Y'all are trying to defend the indefensible. Think about this for a minute: What if all the white directors & producers in Hollywood thought like this racist punk did??? There wouldn't be any Afr-Am actors in any movies other than so-called Black movies directed by Afr-Ams. How would you like it if Hollywood was like that??? The Kid Rasta
I find it funny how you're jumping to conclusions about someone that you've never met, will (obviously now) never meet and you think based on a small portion of what he's done in his work, you have him pegged? Give me a break. Stop assuming you know someone before you actually know them.
Give it a rest Kid,no doubt there are other directors who had done the same thing and he will never write another film that includes a Black person. His last work was a film called Drillbit Taylor starring Owen Wilson. Don't hold your breath for Hollywood to green light a flick where there is a good IR scene between WW and BM.
