Heard today that Palin's 17 year old daughter is five months pregnant. Count on the Fox network and talk show hosts to spin this story. Her reps say she is keeping the baby and marrying the father. Reminds me of Britney Spears' sister. Imagine if that happened to the granddaughter of Joe Biden?

Have you ever lived in Alaska? Juneau in particular? Politics up there consist of oil, animal control, whether or not to let people drive with studs on their tires in September, how to keep moose off the streets and bears out of the cities, and how to keep tourism alive. Experience as anything in Alaska isn't really "experience" in my eyes. She's a hockey mom. She's a typical Alaskan hockey mom. And frankly, having spent a great deal of time with those types, I don't get a warm and fuzzy feeling about my country being run by an Alaskan hockey mom. Wow. Just, wow. But if you've never lived there, or never been to Juneau, then you wouldn't know what I'm talking about.

But another thought, she has five kids, one of whom is a special needs infant. Not going to be spending a lot of quality time with that child if McCain is elected, now is she? Hard for her to really play the family values card with that going on, IMO.

Not that I'm defending her, but that's what nannies are for. And given that she's a governor, I'm sure she has the nanny thing going on anyway. Plus, she's not the one making the decisions. That only happens if McCain dies in office.

Oh, I know, Bookworm. I just think it's ironic, that's all.

    Agreed.

Most/All politicians work by the mantra: Do as I say, not as I do. I doubt she's any different.

He's 79 or something, isn't he? That's a really distinct possibility, so I'd imagine he should've picked someone who'll make a good president when he has a stroke in his sleep.

As far as mccain disrespecting his wife cindy, read "The Real Mccain" by Cliff Schecter. Very enlightening book.

There are a ton of articles on mccain dumping his first wife for cindy, but if you want an edited timeline of how things went down...

-1973-1979: After returning from Vietnam and finding out his wife carol was in a terrible car accident and no longer looked like the beauty queen she once was, mccain has numerous affairs with various women.
-April 1979: While still married, mccain meets cindy while on business in hawaii.
-Feb. 1980: mccain files for divorce so he can marry cindy.
-April 1980: carol doesnt contest divorce and grants john mccain's wish for divorce.
    -May 1980: john marries cindy.

People always excuse his infidelity by saying it was the result of being a POW. Well its funny how after marrying a woman worth about $100 million, he learned how to keep his dick in his pants.

Eh, maybe he's just better at keeping it a secret.

True. The Vicki Iseman-situation did blow over pretty quickly.

I didn't even remember that! I had to look it up and refresh my memory.

That did blow over very quickly. His advisors have good covering up skills.

The "double standard" card was played very nicely I might add.

This is a pick made out of desperation. Picking someone like Sarah Palin, who has zero experience in dealing with Washington and international concerns, and after meeting with her once for 15 minutes, I was going to for Obama anyway but honestly if McCain wins this election, I dread what would happen to this country.

I'm not against women being picked for running for VP, it would have more legit and respectable if McCain would have chosen someone like Kay Bailey Hutchison, a person who knows what truly goes on in Washington.

The more i know about this woman, the bigger my fear about the fate of this country increases. On a serious note, she makes Obama look like Alexander Hamilton. This woman doesn't know shit about domestic policy other than the fact that the price of milk and bread have increased by 50 cents.

And i don't like being "that guy", but i can't help but think the reaction would be different if it were Obama with a 17 year old daughter who gave birth at her age. And i'm sure most blacks - and some whites - would agree.

Truer words have never been spoken.

This is the party thats always screaming about family values but when one of their top nominee's kids is a pregnanat teen, its a sign of the nominee's strength and committment to convictions.

    Give me a break.

I don't think it's so courageous. Hillary did all the hard work in showing a female candidate was viable, and also defining that 18 million people voted for her in the primaries, and most wouldn't vote for Obama due to race. All the polls and hard math was worked out already.

That's what I thought when I first saw her.

I'd vote for Tina Fey before Palin, though. At least she's keeping a black man (Tracy Morgan) employed.
