It is interesting how in light of the huge numbers Republicans posted last Tuesday, some are putting forward an even stronger effort to oust Michael Steele. Republicans took the House and picked up seats in the Senate. Had they not nominated nutjobs like Christine O'Donnell and Sharon Angle in Delaware and Nevada, they might have plucked the Senate away as well. Yes Steele is a gimmick, but what a way to show gratitude for electoral success. http://www.nytimes.com/2010/11/10/us/politics/10repubs.html?hp
Saty I hate to say it but your right. However you are a liar if you don't admit the progressive left attacking Obama. People in his adminstration abandoning him. Two sides of the same coin.
They picked him to be the head of the RNC because they needed someone to counter the "balance" of blackness. I guess now since they have two black Republicans in the House now (Allen West and Tim Scott), the need for Michael Steele will be all for naught. No one's bringing that up, but yourself. The progressive left isn't really "attacking" him. Rather, they're criticizing that his plans haven't gone far enough (no public option as an example). Also, you have to take into consideration that Robert Gibbs actually called out the progressives and said "the professional left". It's hard being a progressive lefty living in a center-right nation.
Like I say black liberals are okay with racism from the left. Harry reid is okay. Progressives say you are our boy Obama do as we say just our black puppet.
There's a problem with your comment there and it's awfully dumb to say. Since when any of the politicians from the progressive wing or hold liberal views actually tried to disenfranchise people? Basically, Harry Reid said something rather stupid, but the comment isn't looking down on him. Or perhaps the late Robert Byrd, who actually hold more progressive stances for Civil Rights, despite his past being associated with the KKK? You need to read a little more on politics and history.
In other words, The GOP themselves, are the racists. We don't see many blacks in the GOP. Too many whites in the GOP. They don't give a rat's ass about black people in the GOP, they don't want them in the party. However, you're right about that, Soulthinker. They will make sure to kick him out. I think they're using him, because we had first-ever black president in america's history. That's how they're using to take advantage of this. Once he had served his purpose, they will throw him out.
We never said that. The implication is that while racism knows no boundaries, Democrats who are racists are less likely. It's not much of a coincidence that a good number of registered Democrats are progressive minded. If you're a racist, you're more likely part of the Republican Party.
There are now two Congressmen who are brothers now since Steele did his duty the GOP said "He has got to go." They will not last another term unless they can do what J.C. Watts did. Also,to date neither Watts and Gary Franks had gotten any hookups since they left office. Where are they in the GOP pecking scale? Nowhere.
Parties generally don't run opposing candidates when an incumbent of their party is already seated, especially in presidential races.. Also, everyone, take a look at this if you get a chance. http://whatthefuckhasobamadonesofar.com/
Basically this. The person who is POTUS of that current party would more likely get a re-election bid automatically no matter how popular or unpopular they are.
Even if Palin gets a Black VP candidate her chance of winning are slim. The GOP is not going to change their tune for Blacks any time soon.
The rumors are starting already. ***********800080]Pretend Democrats Advise Obama Not To Run For Re-Election[/COLOR] http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2010/11/12/pretend-democrats-advise-_n_782991.html This is how it started with Steele.
In retrospect, O'Donnell and Angle were liabilities and never had sufficient electability…… Concessions however had to be made to appease the Tea Party and their choices…………………. As myopic as we are as a voting block, we never supported or appreciated the significance of his election or success as a party chairman. Now that the electorate has spoken, there appears to be an urgency to revert back to everything Lilly in all of mover and shaker positions ……… Even as a Republican, Chairman Steele received no exemption as a victim of the times, The love affair with him unfortunately appears to be on the decline.
The GOP made up its mind over 40 years ago that they didn't need the black vote to get elected into public office and, for the most part, it has worked. The ratio of Republican to Democratic presidents has been 5:3 since 1968. A significant problem with the scorched earth campaign that the Republicans have waged against the black community, and are now waging on the Mexican-American community is that demographic changes make it to where you'll have to ask the same communities for votes in the future if you want to win. The country is becoming less whiter by the day, but the Republican Party still acts like it is 1981. There was not a single Republican candidate who won a statewide seat in California on November 2 and we had strong contenders in Meg Whitman and Carly Fiorina. Both of whom would have easily won in just about any other state. Their problem was that it is virtually impossible to win in California without a healthy percentage of Hispanic voters in your corner, and the GOP continues to burn every bridge imaginable with that community. Micheal Steele will not convince more blacks to vote Republican; Obama is sure to get the same 95% in 2012 that he received in 2008. Furthermore he is not the son-of-a-bitch that Atwater was and therefore totally expendable.
