The same way a person smokes cigars filled with thousands of carcinogens? Even if they smoke it in moderation, why is tobacco taxed?

i'm fine with the tax on soda...i am a little old school at my house...i don't keep soda or alcohol in the house for regular consumption...i buy gallons of milk with a growing boy at home...propel water because it has less carbs than gatorade and I also buy juice...
you know, there's plenty of alternative sources to milk for a growing boy. excessive consumption is not the best on the digestive system.
it's not excessive...he needs milk for cereal...and he will drink at least one glass of milk a day...i usually buy 2% and sometimes organic...he eats alot too...but that could be all of his friends raiding the refrigerator as well...i feel like i am constantly at the grocery store... i would rather he drink milk, water & juice before soda...fortunately i had sealants put on his baby teeth and his adult teeth when they started coming in...soda eats away at the enamel
This is stupid. It's obviously a money-grab. They care very little about health. If people wanna drown their sorrows in Dr. Pepper or Coke or Pepsi, let them pay the consequences
That's the whole point though. Yes, they're paying the consequences with poor health and possibly getting diabetes and such, but because they're paying the consequences and doing this, their health insurance company is going to have to pay for their various doctor's visits, medications, surgeries, whatever. And then the health insurance companies need to make up that money somehow, so they raise everyone's rates. It's a vicious cycle. If they want everyone to be healthy, then they should offer fruits and veggies for free. LOL. Or at least not tax them at all. :smt023
... in what states, or is this a federal tax on carbonated drinks? already in michigan (and a handful of other states) there is the 10 cents deposit.. if the tax money went into things like health care funds, transit development, put it to good use..
What else is new. The next thing they will tax us on is the air we breath (an air tax). Name one tax that has ever be recinded. Folks, like they say elections have consequences. I heard one idiot the other day say we should pay more in taxes for green energy.
