This is unreal...but, the news is developing fast. http://www.reuters.com/article/bondsNews/idUSN1048790220080310 The Kid Rasta 8)
Yeah that's the undercurrent here. I would not, in my quest to see a black Governor, want to see a man's political and personal life be destroyed to satisfy psychological desires. I feel for Eliot Spitzer right now. I had always thought of him as a very principled, shrewd and morally upstanding man - man, his battles against corporate crime in New York as Attorney General are remarkable. So to hear this brought shocks through my mind. However, if he truly was involved which he has admitted, then he ought to be held accountable for his actions.
I never knew New York never had a black governor, So much for that so called liberal state. I've always found liberal to mean that they don't worry too much about minorities as long as they don't get power and wealth over them.
Don't forget about David Vitter the senator from Louisiana he did not resign when records of his involvement with a call girl went public.
He will. I hear 2morrow morning (Weds.). Lt. Gov. David Paterson (who is legally blind...and well-liked in state govt.) would serve until Dec. 2010. He could run for gov. then. The thing about Spitzer is his: hypocrisy. He would bust prostitution rings when he was atty genl of NY, but he used prostitutes for 6 yrs or more. Say hello to New York's first Black governor: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/David_Paterson The Kid Rasta 8)
Now listen to me Kid, well liked does not mean shit on politics, much less when you're a black man. Plenty of "well liked" politicians have been destroyed, or even murdered in their quest to be successful. Now i do believe that Eliot Spitzer will resign because the New York State Assembly Minority Leader has threatened to make the Speaker call for articles of impeachment and that is much worse given that Eliot could face federal charges. But it is not a given.
Again...the hypocrite Spitzer will resign. I luv showin' all the doubters what's reality. Months back, many on this board doubted me when I said Barack Obama would be the first Afr-Am president. He's well on his way now. The Kid Rasta 8)
Kid I keep telling you that until Obama gets the nomination he aint won nothing, now here is a fact in order to secure the democratic nomination the sucessful candidate needs 2,025 delegates. BARACK OBAMA: 1,596 Delegates won on 11 March: 17 Total states won: 26 HILLARY CLINTON: 1,484 Delegates won on 11 March: 11 Total states won: 16 The problem that is becoming apparent is that although obama has won more states he just is not securing enough delegates. Now at the end, if as it is looking likely both candidates do not have the 2025 delegates to automatically get the nomination it comes down to the "super delegates". Now what are the democratic "super delegates" the 842 unpledged “super-delegates” who comprise nearly 40 percent of the number of delegates needed to clinch the Democratic nomination. This is where Obama's problems lie The category includes Democratic governors and members of Congress, former presidents Bill Clinton and Jimmy Carter, former vice president Al Gore, retired congressional leaders such as Dick Gephardt, and all Democratic National Committee members, some of whom are appointed by party chairman Howard Dean. The report I watched on CNN said that most of these delegates are partisan supporters of clinton. This is the problem that Barack Obama's camp has. These super-delegates don’t have superhuman powers, but unlike rank-and-file Democrats, they do automatically get to cast a vote at the convention to decide who the party’s nominee will be. Although dubbed “unpledged” in Democratic Party lingo, the super-delegates are free to come out before their state’s primary and pledge to support one of the presidential contenders. Maryland Sen. Barbara Mikulski announced she was supporting Sen. Hillary Clinton, New Jersey Gov. Jon Corzine declared that he's also backing her. These aren't mere endorsements; these are actual votes putting Clinton two steps closer to the number of delegates needed to secure the nomination. Just one more thing Kid before I finish, you were talking about David Paterson being the first black govenor, Paterson is currently a Democratic party national convention superdelegate and Clinton endorser.
mrs scott, By your own math Barack Obama is ahead of Hillary in pledged delegates. Also, you forgot to include Mississippi in your delegate math...which Barack Obama won yesterday. If, at the end of all the primaries, Obama is still (most likely) ahead in pledged delegates...then those so-called superdelegates will be compelled to support the candidate with the most pledged delegates, which will give Obama enough delegates to secure the Dem nomination for pres. If the Billary machine manages to manipulate the process so as to steal the nomination from Barack Obama...then he can get ghost from the Democratic party, and run as an Independent in the general election in Nov. If that happens...it's bye-bye to Billary, and the Dems in Nov. If Barack Obama is able to retain his supporters, plus pickup independents & some Repubs who can't stand McCain...then Barack Obama will win the White House as an Independent. If you don't think that can/will happen...then just let Billary steal the nomination from Barack -- and see what happens. If Barack doesn't run as an Independent in Nov., then all his supporters may just stay home in Nov., which will guarantee a McCain in the White House. The Kid Rasta 8)
No independant has or will ever win Kid, the only way Barack can win is to put aside his differences with hilary. A sad business indeed.
hmm... I wonder will the new governor push to legalize the sex trade... legalize it, tax it, regulate it, let the girls unionize...
Whom ever wins the nomination, most likely will not come down to the superdelegates. There will be do overs in FL and MI, which I beleive is a good idea, it will give Obama the edge and push him over the 2025 magic number to get the nomination. I think the DNC is aware that if the superdelegates choose their nominee, the party will be divided, which wll only equal a Mccain victory in Novemeber. The people need to decide who the nominee will be, not some high powered elitest group of people, again it will only divide party. Now, as it stands according to CNN, Obama is ahead by 131 delegates. It was just annoucned today that he won the Texas caucus, and he was awarded 5 delegates from the California primary after a review was conducted showing he wasn't awarded the right amount of delegates. The next primary will be in PA, polls show Obama is down 15pts, but he has 6wks to close in on Hillary's lead there. Remember, Obama was down 20pt with only 2wks to campaign until the March 4th TX and OH primary. In only two weeks Obama was able to close her 20pt lead in OH to 10pts and her 20pt lead in TX to just 4pt and also won the TX cuacus. So look for Obama to do pretty well in Pa. After PA, we have NC and IN, he is ahead in the polls in both of those states. He's only 414 delegates away from 2025, once the FL and MI primaries are done, no matter who wins, Obama will reach 2025 before Hillary since he's so far ahead. Obama: 1611 delegates Hillary: 1480 delegates
