I'm ashamed to call myself a Bears fan after this horrific, horrific game. They didn't even look like the Bears from last year. They looked like a bunch of guys they picked up off the street two days ago to play. I mean, seriously, W.T.F. All they had to do was win tonight and they'd clinch the division. They couldn't even come close. It was like the Eagles were playing a high school team tonight. Seriously, W.T.F.??? Hanging my head in shame.
Co-sign with Chessy, luv. It's hard to watch your team lay an egg. We felt this way last week. And the fact that GB AND The Lions both lost setting your Bears up for a clinch - it would be like if Dallas lost to the Skins yesterday that would set our Eagles up for a Divisional win (with a win last night)...and them coming out flat. Unforgivable. The only redemption is they get another chance next week against GB, (as we do against Dallas (now with Romo our for the year, will be quite interesting)), so yeah, they can still make it up, hopefully. I just hope your Bears remember the numerous Eagles fans chants in the 3rd and 4th quarter calling for Dallas, stat. "We want Dallas!!" shook the stadium as Cutler struggled to play.. Utter humiliation...But hey, time for Da Bears to strap up and play hard football, or go home.
Trust me, I feel your pain. From 13-3 last season to 4-12* this season. On a related note, there's always next season! *This season isn't over yet but LOL at beating the Panthers next week.
I know that hurt! It looked for a min like they were going to come back and win it. Sorry love. Raiders and Falcons next year...unstoppable. I just need a competent coach and a quarterback...and a more disciplined defense...and a better run game...and, and, and...
See? Isn't it great when someone can feel your pain and empathize with you? Lol. We've already got our QB but shit we has some issues. Tony Gonzalez came back for this? But yeah...next year!
I actually felt sorry for Ryan and Gonzalez when they panned their faces. They did execute an awesome on-side though, very rarely does a team succeed, what a one-hand catch! Had a bad feeling when your coach had Ryan pass with downs and time left to spare - just seemed too risky against a hungry Defense - if nothing else, at least.settle for a tying FG.
On the bright side, there are some glimmers of hope for the next season. Now we just need to work on that defense in the off-season because right now it is miserable. Another silver lining? A Niners win hurts the Saints playoff seeding, and a world where the Saints do well is a world that no one wants to live in.
Thanks everyone! All we (as Bears fans) can do is wipe the slate clean and focus on beating Green Bay. I was reading an article about the wretched Bears game and someone in the comments section mentioned how it didn't matter WHICH team won our division, it'll just be prolonging the inevitable of being kicked out during the first playoff game. I had to agree. For the first time in recent memory, the NFC North is pretty weak. I feel badly for Tony Gonzalez. He was going to retire and then decided to come back for one more year, only to have his team do a complete face plant into the ground. I do not know what happened to Atlanta this year, but damn. LMAO! This is exactly how I feel about the stupid Packers. :smt023
As much as I would love to blame this season solely on injuries on offense, our defense was never what it needed to be and it finally caught up with us. Even when we on fire last season, we collapsed in the second half of games more than we should have. Our only hope this season would have been to score a ton of points every week and hope that the other team doesn't catch up. And don't feel too bad about the NFC North. At least it isn't the AFC South. Now that division is terrible! The Colts are only going to get better but the rest of that division is a fucking junkyard fire. No offense to anyone who's a fan of any of those teams, of course. This is why I love football season. The hating is one of the best parts! If you're like me you look at your rival and think to yourself how sad it is that such a talented QB has to play for the wrong team.
Yeah, the AFC South is very weak this year. I forgot to add that whilst I don't think the winner of the NFC North division will go far in the playoffs, I am hoping beyond hope that if it can't be the Bears, it at least won't be the Packers. :smt023
This Sunday is the last for the regular season. :smt090:smt090 Football season is almost over. It goes too quickly. :smt022:smt022 If only they could have an NFL 2 and start a new season that goes from February to August with new teams and players, so we could never be without football. LOL.
Basketball? Eh, it's not the same. I tried to put a finger on why I've never really gotten into basketball or hockey or baseball and I think it's because: - basketball games only really seem to matter in the last few minutes and that doesn't offer much excitement for me. - hockey is just a bunch of guys skating around a rink who sometimes make a shot with the puck at a goal and it just never interested me. - baseball - they play like 800 games a year that mostly mean nothing in the grand scheme of things (I'm way oversimplifying the season), but it's just too much. They're only off for like 3-4 months and it's just beyond annoying to me to have to endure baseball talk from February to November. UGH. Football to me is just way more exciting. Every possession means something and every mistake means something. There is no meaningless quarter in football. If you only tune into the last 5 minutes, you've missed so many plays from the first 55 minutes. To me, football just offers more excitement. Though maybe soccer would be a good summer sport to try to get into. Basketball is okay, but I just can't seem to muster up any excitement for watching the games.
I :smt049 basketball probably even more than football...it's hard to not get caught up in the bronco frenzy...once that happened I started to care how other teams were playing as well to look at the matchups...now I'm hook, line & sinker
Arrgh!! YOU DON"T KNOW BASEBALL!! :smt106 The bolded, THAT IS baseball, too! Plenty of games - assuming the viewer knows and understand the complete rules - are very exciting! And many games DO mean something. FYI, I used to be like you, I'd be invited to games and decline as I'd rather have watched paint dry.:smt087 The thing about baseball is, you get the best of both worlds... you can simply enjoy a game listening or watching (especially through the dog days of summer) or you can sit riveted if it involves your team's arch rival, or when a game turns into a stunner game. And too, Baseball's HR is the same as FB's TD in that it can happen at any moment with one strong whack of the bat and it changes everything. That also applies to one mistake...just one. I entice you to pick your home-team for fun for one season and actually follow them...and see if you aren't dragged into the lows and highs as they mash it out. C'mon Bookie, PLAY BALL with us this season!
I have DirecTV - can't even get into the Phils any more. But I do have to agree with Bookie a bit. Baseball is a little like hours and hours of boredom punctuated by moments of sheer terror (or, in this case, excitement). I prefer football over baseball, but still a fan of all teams Philly.
