    Alright...

As my man Wedlock suggested, let's talk some FOOTBALL...AMERICAN FOOTBALL of course, since we all know that the real football is played mostly overseas!!

    Alright...In my humble opinion, folks:

    AFC:

INDIANAPOLIS COLTS: will suffer a major Superbowl hangover...even though they have the best Quaterback in the League, they lost waaaaaaaaay to many players during this offseason...

Also, I just do not see them being as hungry as they were last year...after finally winning the Big game, I am not sure how Dungy, Manning and their guys will handle the target on their back!!

NEW ENGLAND PATRIOTS: To me, the best offseason in the whole league...Brady doesn't need to be introuced, I think that he will have a GREAT season with the weapons he has at WR!!

Only problem, with Corey Dillon leaving, the running game isn't as deep with only Laurence Maroney in his second year as the proven starter!!

SAN DIEGO CHARGERS: With LT and Rivers, plus Antonio Gates, and of course, Shawne "lights out" Merriman anchoring the defense, they are a very dangerous team...they might eliminate either the COLTS or the PATRIOTS if they play them in the Playoffs!!

My prediction: COLTS-PATS repeat, and the Patriots get their revenge and go to the "SUPA GAME"

    NFC:

CHICAGO BEARS: Troubled offseason...losing Thomas Jones, their BEST back by far (Cedric "the entertainer" Benson isn't ready...they lose TANK JOHNSON to suspension, Tommie Harris and Mike Brown are coming off serious injuries, Lance Briggs is pouting at home...hmmm...the BEARS know that they better get homw field advantage and hope the cold weather bails them out, bcoz if they play on the road in the playoffs, they're DONE!!

NEW ORLEANS SAINTS: The offense was number 1 in the whole league, the defense was 11th overall!!
Offseason acquisition: Jason David, at CB...only 5'8", but he plays like he is 6'0"...and has an aggressive attitude on the field... Kevin Kaesviharn is going to make the safety position much better and second year Roman Harper is coming back. At DE, Charles Grant and Will Smith return, the D will be better than last year, the offense shouldn't lose much...

Brees at the helm of course, at WR Marques Colston and Devery Henderson, plus veterans David Patten, Terrance Copper and first round pick Rob MEACHEM!! Need I mention Reggie and Deuce in the backfield??? They are going to hurt some teams!!!

My prediction: YES, another repeat from last year's championship game, SAINTS-BEARS, but in the dome...and you all know the result...the SAINTS knock out the Bears, but Bears' fans are still allowed to go party on Bourbon Street!! :D

Superbowl: PATS-SAINTS...Pats win, Tom Brady gets his 4th ring...it will be next time for the SAINTS :)

Jrem, Jrem. You were doing good until you got to the Bears & Saints. :smt018 I agree that the Colts will not be as good as they were last year. Heck, i'm one of the main ones who thought that playoff run by the Colts was a major fluke. I think they're a good team, but were never a great team. They can be beaten. How ironic is it that nobody was able to stop Dominic Rhodes in the playoffs?? I mean, it's Dominic "friggin" Rhodes for crying out loud lol. He ran over the Ravens D, and he ended up running over the Bears D as well. I still can't figure out how that happened. :smt017

The Chargers are good on paper, but they will struggle, and they will be beaten the first game of the season by the Bears. Philip Rivers will be harassed, and he will turn the football over a few times. Tomlinson will be contained (by contained i mean held under multiple touchdowns. the guy is so good, when a team holds him under multiple scores, they've done a pretty good job on him). I think Rex will also turn the football over, but this game will be won by the running of Cedric Benson. Mark my words, this guy is gonna be a great player. He's more explosive than Thomas Jones (that's why they picked him 4th overall in the draft).

If you would actually do your homework for a change Jrem, you would surely know that the Bears are actually better on paper this year than they were last year. The offense is better (Hester, Olsen, and Wolfe), and i really believe that the defense will be better as well now that all of our players are healthy. You're all gonna be surprised i'm telling ya. :p

Now as far as your Saints, i can't believe you even mentioned Kevin Kaesviharn, Roman Harper, and Jason David as possible saviors. The point that you're forgetting is the fact that they're all NOBODIES. In the words of Chad Johnson, "They all SUCK!!" They're only gonna make that defense worse lol. Grant and Smith are both good players, but that's about it. Brees, Bush, Colston, and McAllister are all gonna be there, but they were there last year and still got destroyed. All flash and no substance. By the way, good luck getting meachem out of the doctors office. It looks like he's gonna spend his entire career on IR lol.

Before i make any predictions, let me check out the schedules, and i'll get back to you. I wanna see who your Saints are playing this season. :)

Bryant, reading you is always fun...

Ok, I will quote you...talking about the BEARS
"The offense is better (Hester, Olsen, Wolff) and I REALLY BELIEVE THAT THE DEFENSE WILL BE BETTER...

Ok, you sound quite certain for the offense...but for the D. you really believe...meaning you are not so sure? meaning you have no idea???

Meaning you are NOT going to be better without your number 2 defensive player BRIGGS, without TANK (who by the way, got pulled over for DUI again today, nicely done, Tank!!), the healthy guys you are talking about are a liability, and you know it...these guys had season ending injuries, they might not be a 100% this coming season!!

Open your dreamy eyes Bryant and face the truth...

ps: Oh, by the way...you are talking about NOBODIES??? I know a team of NOBODIES, the 2001 New England Pats who shocked the world...the SAINTS ARE COMING!!! :D

You are going to feel LT when you play the Chargers and wish you had paid Lance BRIGGS!! :D

See this is what I'm talking about. You guys go very in-depth in here and I have my opinions but hate to do all that typing...lol

    I'll add my .2 anyway...

Bryant, I know you're a hometown dude but your Bears could be in trouble this year. Management choosing Benson over jones may have been the right move on paper but as far as I'm concerned you got a rookie running back..add that to a shaky QB situation..I dunno. Your recievers are cool but as a former Lions fan I will tell you that if the rest of your offense is shaky, your receivers dont do as well....Dont get me wrong, you guys should be ok in that weak division but I don't think you all will be as good as last year, even defensively (see Jrem's comments lol)

Its too early for me to give any official predictions but I'm loving the Pats, Chargers (even though I think they should have kept Marty), and Patroits...too bad they are all in the AFC. You can argue that those are your 3 best teams right there. In the NFC I think it's a no brainer that the Saints will dominate. They've got a nice young core that will only get better individually (except for Breese maybe) and collectively. ....now for my crazy pic..I'm going to go out on a Limb and say my favorite team (Giants) are going to shock some people and make some noise this year. Yeah we lost our MVP in Tiki, but it's time for young Eli to step his game up and I think he's ready. Remember B.Jacobs showed he is no punk himself and R.Drouns (however u spell it) should do OK. I'm mainly looking for the backs to do a decent job of getting some yards and Eli going to work with those recievers. Look for Buress to straight get loose and go to the pro bowl.

I'm hesitant to give the Chargers anything. Norv Turner has not proven he can win as head coach be it in Oakland or Washington.

The Patriots are dangerous with all the moves they make and I can see them getting to the AFC title game.

The Colts are "?" in my book as they lost players and how hungry are they now.

The Bears won't get to the NFC title game. I see them out in the first round of the playoffs if they get there. It all depends on what Sexy Rexy does.

The Saints are pretty much the Patroits of the NFC. Very dangerous.

I think there could be some surprise teams this year like San Francisco or Arizona possibly giving Seattle a run for there money in the NFC West.

The Jets are on the verge of something with Coach Mangini coming back for year two and Chad Pennington being healthy for two training camps in a row now.

Some teams like Philly and Atlanta will have alot of issues to deal with. For the Eagles it'll be whether Donovan McNabb can return from yet another injury. The Falcons got the whole Mike Vick dog fighting scandle being a issue for them.

All this is shaping up to be a very interesting 88th season for the NFL.

Great, more Bears bashers is just what i need lol. Bmanz and OmahaBoy are both saying that the Saints will dominate the NFC (which is what everyone thought last season  ) and OmahaBoy even sees the Bears out in the first round lol. All i can say is WOW. It's gonna be a great season for me when i see "Sexy Rexy" and company hoisting the lombardi trophy. I know that everybody hates the Bears, but sometimes the hate just gets ridiculous. Tank Johnson, Lance Briggs, and Thomas Jones were all good players, but they wouldn't be getting replaced if they were in fact "irreplaceable."

And if someone else says that the departure of Thomas Jones will kill the Bears, i'm gonna go mad lol. He was a good player. He rushed for about 1200-1300 yards a season, but so will Benson. I'm also a Chiefs fan, and when Priest Holmes was running the ball while Larry Johnson was waiting in the wings, nobody thought he'd be able to step into that role full time and produce. Now look at him. People don't even remember Priest Holmes anymore lol.

    Few more comments:

I'm of course a Brandon Jacobs supporter because it was only a few short years ago that i was watching him play in a Southern Illinois Saluki Uniform on my campus, but the Giants are much, much worse off than the Bears. Sorry Bmanz, i don't see them going anywhere anytime soon. Eli is way worse than Rex IMO. All people can see is Rex's Arizona game and a few other games as proof of how bad he is, but how about when he won offensive player of the month in october i believe. or how about the fact that nobody besides Marc Bulger of the Rams had more games with 100+ qb rating than Rex. the guy has skill. and i'm not just saying that as a homer either. when he cleans up the little things, he's gonna make the pro bowl. and i have a great feeling that it will be this season. you guys can hold me to those words.

I agree that the Pats have to be considered the favorite, especially now that they've signed my personal favorite player (Moss) :p .

The Chargers are overrated a bit, because like OmahaBoy said, Norv Turner just doesn't get it, and never will. That was a terrible hire by them.

And finally, Jrem, here's the Saints schedule:

    09/06 at Indianapolis (loss)
    09/16 at Tampa Bay (win)
    09/24 Tennessee (win)
    10/07 Carolina (win)
    10/14 at Seattle (loss)
    10/21 Atlanta (win)
    10/28 at San Francisco (win)
    11/04 Jacksonville (loss)
    11/11 St. Louis (win)
    11/18 at Houston (win)
11/25 at Carolina (loss, Carolina pays them back as usual)
    12/02 Tampa Bay (win)
    12/10 at Atlanta (loss)
    12/16 Arizona (win)
    12/23 Philadelphia (win)
12/30 at Chicago (loss, c'mon they're not winning at Soldier Field)

So that's a 10-6 record by my estimation. Let's see how far they get after that.

    JREMINATOR New Member

Alright Bry, let's put your Bears to the test:

    09/09 at San Diego (Loss)
    09/16 Kansas City (Win)
    09/23 Dallas (Loss)
    09/30 at Detroit (Win)
    10/7 at Green Bay (Win)
    10/14 Minnesota (Win)
    10/21 at Philadelphia (Loss)
    10/28 Detroit (Win)
    11/11 at Oakland (Win)
    11/18 at Seattle (Loss)
    11/25 Denver (Loss)
    12/2 NY Giants (Win)
    12/6 at Washington (Loss)
    12/17 at Minnesota (Win)
    12/23 Green Bay (Win)
12/30 New Orleans (Loss...it's call Pay back, Bryant)

So if I can still count, that's a 9-7 record Bryant...and since you play in the weakest division in Football, you will go to the playoffs and re-match of last year's NFC championship, but in DA DOME in New Orleans!!! and you know the outcome of that one!!!

ps: Did u just dare compare Larry Johnson to mister sissy Cedric Benson??? c'mon man!!

And who has forgotten Priest Holmes??? maybe people like you who don't know their football...as good as LJ is, he hasn't even come close to being as good as Priest was yet!!!

NFL OFFSEASON VERBAL MATCH Bears v.Saints.

:) Okay, okay,okay..........I've gotta step up and say that I don't see how you guys are hating on the Bears.I have to go with my man Bryant.Every year we hear the hype about the Saints, but.......I think last year was a year of overachievement.Payton is a good coach, but JREM, I can't think of any back to back years when the Saints have made the playoffs.Give me a citation if they have , but I can't find where they have done so. Now, you guys analyzed each teams's schedule, and you're going with 9-7 for the Bears, 10-6 for the Saints. These are close records.I am going to have to disagree with JREM on the Seattle match up and the Washington match up for the Bears. The Bears admittedly have got QB issues and Lovey knows this. I am hoping if he sees Grossman being ineffective that he pulls from the bench. You guys are going to laugh at me, but it was actually a guy named Kyle Ortman that ran off about 8 wins in a row for the Bears a couple of years ago.Let's face it, The Bears are designed for conservative mistake free ball.
JREM, the trouble with the Saints is their inconsistency over the years. So you can't get angry with me if you notice they begin to sputter during 07 .We'll see what happens.

Re: NFL OFFSEASON VERBAL MATCH Bears v.Saints.

Wedlock, Wedlock, Wedlock...my main man, let me answer a few of your comments here because some of them are, well...slightly inaccurate :)

EVERY YEAR you hear the hype about the Saints???? are you kidding me??? what sports channels do you watch?? Even last year, the Saints were picked to finish last in their division, and that even after they started 5 and 1!!!
The only hype about the Saints that I can remember was after the 2000 season, and after last season...and maybe after the 1991 season, but I wasn't watching Football then :)

The Saints made the playoffs in the 1990/91 season, losing to YOUR BEARS at Soldier Field...and the next year, 1991/92 they won their division, and made the playoffs. The next year, UNBELIEVABLE?? yes, they made the playoffs again!!
Ok, they didn't win any of these games!! :(

    Check it out here: http://www.sportsecyclopedia.com/nfl/norleans/saints.html

NOW, last year Saints were overachievers you say??? maybe so...but trust me, when you have Sean Payton, Drew Brees, Reggie Bush, Deuce McAllister, Marques Colston, Will Smith, Charles Grant, you have a great core...let's see what they do this year!!!

ps: Kyle ORTON...man, not Ortman...your quaterbakcs are so bad you guys don't even know their names!!!! :D

    NFL OFFSEASON PICKS

    8) JREM-I normally tune in to all the sports channels, and YES, the Saints are hyped up and the expectations are high of them.Their issue is one of "Jekyll and Hyde." It comes down to poor performances towards the end of the year which in many cases cost them playoff slots. They routinely have had their troubles with Tampa, Carolina, and to a lesser degree Atlanta.
ps: Kyle ORTON...man, not Ortman Dude, are you really reaching that far? This guy managed to reel off 8 straight wins for them a couple season ago.My concession was that Grossman was a bad quarterback, but not Orton. He's not a bad guy to stick in there.I'm not sure what a typo has to do with his playing skills, either.
Anyway, I gues we'll have to see during the season what transpires.Just don't come to me with any stories of "woulda-coulda-shoulda" if and when the Saints choke away a playoff spot for 2007-08,LOL.

Man, Wedlock, you are a real fan...meaning someone who denies the things he said two minutes later for the sake of argument!!! :)

The SAINTS are hyped this year, YES!!!
But in your previous post, you stated: "EVERY YEAR we hear the hype about the Saints" which was an utterly false statement, especially when just last year, NO ONE expected them to win more than 7 games!!!

Now, don't tell me calling Kyle Orton Kyle Ortman is a misspelling...it's simply not remembering the name of an obscure quaterback...you are saying Orton could be better than Grossman??? You have got to be kidding me!!! Orton won 8 games basically just handing the ball to Thomas Jones and avoiding getting sacked...

He still made so many mistakes that at the end of one game, Muhsin Muhammad almost tried to beat him up on the sideline and had to be restrained!!!

Sounds like I know your team a little bit better than yourself man

    GO SAINTS!!! :D

    NFL OFFSEASON SAINTS VS BEARS.

:? Dude, I misspelled your handle, does that make you obscure,LOL? No, it doesn't. And I cannot believe as a Saints fan you're going to sit there and say that you haven't had high hopes in the past only to be disappointed by poor play towards the ends of your seasons. You simply did not finish strong against your division rivals and Carolina has bested you quite a few times , especially in recent years.
Next, can't you do better than to parse a hyperbolic statement? That would be like me calling you on the carpet for saying that the Bear's franchise was "older than dirt."Now obviously, that's a false statement on the surface, but intellectual honesty tells me that you don't really think the team is older than dirt.
Next, nowhere did I say the back up was better.I called for him on the condition that if the number one guy wasn't doing well; give it to number two.He won; and that's in large part to the conservative structure of the Bear's offense. If Lovie were not so loyal, I think the change could have done then some good even in the big dance against Indy.

I'm not even old enough to know what has been said in ALL the preseasons regarding the Saints, and I doubt you are either but I've got enough football sense to know about the Saints and their "jekyll and hide" type play on the field.

    LETS GO TOMLIN!!!

Some AFC players though that could give em a run for they money is
    Titans, Pats and Ravens.

On the NFC any team can emerge ou tof there so Im looking for Dallas
and saints right back in it.

    Bryant New Member

**sigh** This is getting quite old. Saints haven't done ANYTHING. Granted, they had the best 10-6 record in NFL history lol, and i look for them to have another 10-11 wins, but they won't win the NFC. And neither will Dallas. The only team that i see taking the NFC over from Chicago could potentially be Seattle. And that's the ONLY team. They played us "much" tougher than the Saints did last season. The Bears will still win the NFC, seeing as though everyone in Chicago knows we actually have a better and deeper team returning this season (nobody outside of Chicago wants to recognize this fact for some strange reason), but i'm starting to like the extra pressure that people are putting on the Saints. It will be bittersweet when they fail, AGAIN.

By the way, Pittsburgh could be decent this year if Big Ben plays well and Tomlin pans out as a coach. I still think having to go through Cincy and Baltimore will be too tough though. And Tennessee is my bust team of the season. They'll go 7-9 or 8-8 at best. VY can run, but he can't pass yet, and he's literally the only player they have. Well, Bulluck is a good linebacker and VanDen Bosch can rush the passer, but outside of those 3, the rest of their team is garbage. They are vastly overrated IMO.

  17. kenny_g

    kenny_g New Member

Yeah!! I forgot the titans aint got no WRs for VY.
Then I'll have to go with Broncos in my top 3.

Oh, what a surprise that EVERYONE in Chicago thinks that the Bears are going to win the NFC!!!

The Saints have a better D than last year...preseason means very little...and they have the best offense in the NFC, period! they can attack you from every positions: They have the best QB in the NFc at the moment, very good running game, good WRs, good TE now with Eric Johnson...and if their D can be better than 11th overall, they'll be a scary team!!!

The Bears are better this year on offense...Hester and Olsen are going to be good additions...the D is still going to be tough...but like I said last year, no matter how much you want to put him in the probowl, my dear Bryant, Rex Grossman is and will be your doom!!! :)

  19. Bryant

    Bryant New Member

Jrem, Jrem...please tell me the name of a so-called "terrible quarterback" who is able to toss 23 touchdowns in a season?? Please enlighten me. If Rex was so bad, there's no way he would have that many touchdown throws. And ponder this for a second my dear Saints fan. If the Bears were able to literally "crush" the Saints and the rest of the NFC with a "terrible" grossman at qb, what then will happen if he actually "improves?" Scary thought isn't it. That's what all of you Saints fans are afraid of. You can talk bad about Rex all you want and say how bad he is, but if Rex improves, the Bears won't just be beating people, they'll be dominating people. Briggs is back, Benson is going to outgain Thomas Jones on the ground, Tank has been replaced by a "better" player, Tommie Harris & Mike Brown return to form, and Hester has been mentioned as a "faster version of Steve Smith." But again, i won't say anything else. I'll just continue to let the media annoint the Saints as favorites. I love the underdog role anyway. We thrive in it.

And Jrem, my point is this about the Saints. As great of a season they had last year, they only had 10 wins and they got completely killed in the playoffs by the Bears. I'm predicting a slight drop off in production. They won't catch anybody by surprise this time around. Colston will see double coverage, Henderson won't be working against the nickel defenders, and Bush will also be double covered when he splits out wide. Brees may still put up big numbers, and McAllister will still get his carries, but there won't be any domination by the Saints. Heck, if Carolina plays better, they're gonna have to duke it out for their division crown, let alone the crown for the entire NFC. And although Brees is a great qb, he is not the best qb in the NFC. McNabb is. Sorry buddy, but that's the truth and you know it.

    OH YEAH,

    SEATTLE > SAINTS

Bryant, Bryant, once again you haven't done your homework...but well, another SURPRISE??? Hardly!!!

First of all, a TERRIBLE QB can throw 23 touchdowns in a season, but also 6 INTs in one game, plus multiple INTs in a bunch of others...or say "oh well, it was the holidays, so wasn't really focused against the Packers"...

Rex is IN-CON-SIS-TENT!!! And I don't care how many TDs he has thrown, when u balance that with the fumbles and INTs...

And c'mon Bryant, WE KNOW who took the BEARS to the superbowl, it's THE D...who brought u back against the CARDINALS??? Rexie???

The SAINTS weren't crushed against the BEARS...the score didn't reflect the game and u know it...we made some stupid turnovers and Freddie Thomas could have been beaten by you throwing wild hail mary passes to Bernard Berrian!!

And u guys make me laugh wth the whole "the Saints won't sneak up on anyone"...did the Saints sneak up on the Cowboys towards the end of the season? or on the Giants? or on the Eagles in the Playoff game?? gimme a break! We won't sneak up on anyone and we'll still be as tough as any to beat in the NFC!!!

Lastly, McNabb WAS the best QB in the NFC...and that was when he was actually on the field playing...as of NOW, BREES has the edge...whether u like it or not!!!

But hey, let the games begin...it's not that far away!!!
