Obama has chosen US Solicitor General Elena Kagan as the next US Supreme Court justice. Kagan will replace retiring Justice John Paul Stevens. Kagan has spent much of her time in academia teaching law, rather than arguing cases on the courtroom floor. She was a Harvard law professor for awhile. Do you think she will rise to the task with out much court room experience?
Ever notice how we have no defense lawyers for the poor on the supreme court that I know of? With this choice, We now have 3 women as US Justice. It is starting to look a little more representative on the court since most people in law are women.
She is the former dean for the University of Harvard's Law program. She was a Clinton White House lawyer. She never has been a judge. She has spent little time in a court room.
I think she is on her way to be seated. The repubs can delay her nomination but cant stop it. She is young, she is only 50, she prolly be on the bench for 3 to 4 decades...wow...the decision that she will make on the bench going to shape America for generation to come. Gay right issues-marriage etc.. dont ask dont tell, will be coming to court. Wow.. the first black (african) president nominates a hispanic woman for the court, now a jewish lesbian to the high court. I am sure historians are racing to the coffee shop to write these chapters, lol
