Obama Wipeout Republican Party

It is not a given that keynote speakers at conventions are automatically seen as major contenders for the next elections. There is no way the keynote speaker at last year's convention would make it or go far as a candidate for the 2016 primaries for the democrats. Yes Obama was seen as a rising star but Hilary and Edwards were seen as more viable contenders than Obama in 2004 for the next elections. By 2014 the picture would be clearer. As long as you have the likes of Coulter Hannity in your party not to mention the Tea party, there would be more wound licking from you guys.

 

It's silly IMO to talk trash this far out from the 2016 election. The GOP just watched a U.S. President get re-elected in an economy worse than the one Jimmy Carter had.


It's not the Republicans possible candidates that's the problem. It's the message and it's not connecting with most voters anymore.

THe GOP is becoming older, Southern and White, and running an Indian American or a Cuban American isn't going to change that or make them look 'inclusive'.

Paul Ryan is a loser. When's the last time a VP on a losing ticket became POTUS??

The odds are the traditional GOP either nominates a true believer tea bagger, or chooses Jeb Bush in the Republican primaries.

The Republicans need to run a moderate to win the WH. Sadly, that species of conservative no longer exists in the GOP.

It is pretty much a given...all three people you just mentioned spoke at the 2004 DNC and then ran in the 2008 primary (Hillary, Edwards, Obama).

Also, Coulter and Hannity are television personalities and have absolutely no bearing on the Presidential election. Just like uber left wing Rachel Maddow has no bearing on the Democratic election.

 

There are a host of reasons we lost the election and I think the economy is not one of them. The majority of Americans believed that Mitt Romney would be better suited to handle the economy. The other issues you mentioned were the problem for the Republicans. The demographics of the country and social issues are changing and Republicans need to fine tune their positions on these issues. But they have young minority candidates like Marco Rubio and Tim Scott who will appeal to a whole new generation of Republicans and the country. Democrats have nothing but old candidates and when Barack leaves in 2016 with a $25 trillion national debt, America will be ready for a change...hopefully!

 

Isn't that what conservatives were saying about that Mia Love? What happened to her? If Rubio & Scott are selling the same things that she was then they'll be kicking rocks on the sidelines just like she currently is.

 

Maybe i am not well versed in American politics so please educate me. How many KEYNOTE speakers speak at conventions? I did not say that anyone who spoke at conventions were not necessarily major candidates for the subsequent elections, i was specific on that. You think the constant vile things Hannity, Coulter and Limbaugh say on air doesn't sway public opinion because they are TV personalities? Really? I forsee a 20 year span of democrat occupation of the White House just like it happened between 1932 and 1952.

 

No, I don't believe they sway public opinion or have any impact on elections. Fox News basically reports to Republicans and MSNBC reports to Democrats. That's why I said Rachel Maddow has no impact either because she is just speaking to liberals and giving them exactly what they want to hear.

As far as conference speakers, you can have maybe 20 of them over the three day period with only a handful being keynote speakers. After Barack is gone, there is no way the Democrats control the White House for three more election cycles.

 

Mia Love was never seen as a Presidential candidate. Mia Love had the good fortune of being African American, a woman, and Mormon. That is why she was spotlighted at the convention. But she does not hold the same political clout as Scott and Rubio. Tim Scott is Senator of South Carolina and Marco Rubio is Senator of Florida. These are two big, critical states in any election.

 

The Rightwing entertainment complex has a big bearing in the Republican Politics. It all started when they started targeting moderate Republicans as RINO.

They have a big market share in the radio media, and it would be disingenuous to think they don't play a big role in politics. A lot of people get their "news" from the likes of Levin, Hanity, Limbaugh, Beck etc.

 

The far right are just beginning to understand that this President is a lot more clever and intelligent than they are giving him after years of calling him incompetent and over his head. When Micheal Savage (conservative talk show host, third behind Limbaugh and Hannity) say this you know there is a re-evaluation of this man going on. The so-called low information voter (LIV) translated as stupid voter were not so stupid after all. Obama will have the Republican Party fighting an internal civil war with each other. He is playing them and they cannot even see it.

 

The fact that the nomination of Chuck Hagel is being fought by republicans says it all. They just dont like this son of a Kenyan(in place of the B word) in the White House.

 

First, people gravitate towards what they want to hear. Republicans will listen to conservative talk show hosts and Democrats will listen to liberal talk show hosts. Even though conservatives have a large market share of radio, liberals have a much larger share of television & internet. These have a much greater reach than radio in today's world. These hosts have a role in politics, but it terms of actually shifting outcomes they have very little political sway. As evidenced by Obama winning by such wide margin both times. Nobody walked up to the voting booth and thought "I was going to vote Obama, but Sean Hannity said that is a bad idea". Come on...let's get realistic.

 

There is a difference between savvy and intelligent to win an election and being savvy and intelligent to run the country. Obama comes from a community organizer background, he knows how to rally. He does not know how to effectively manage the country when it comes to the economy.

Republicans realize that every election, he is playing you and you don't even realize it. His speech writer in his first election was laughing at how easy it was for people to eat up his "hope and change" BS.

If President Obama nominated John McCain for Defense secretary, even John McCain would be against it.

 

The conservation talk shows dominate the radio market and Fox also dominates the TV cable news. I consider Fox Rightwing, CNN center, while MSNBC leftwing.

My problem with the conservative talk shows is that they are very lose with facts. I said it even before the re-election of President Obama that when they don't like an outcome they make up their own studies and facts. An example of this is climate change whereby majority of scientist have generally the same diagnostic, but the rightwing will take the 1% that agrees with their view and play it consistently thereby miseducating their viewer. They are many incidences of basically lying.

If Fox news viewers and listeners of the Right wing media complex get their information from such sources, don't you think it will influence their World view. If they would listen to a balanced and a more truthful representing of information, don't you think it would influence their World view.

Before the Iraq war I used to sometimes listen to Fox news because I think it was more entertaining (with music, presenters, and loud discussions). I would equate it with watching wrestling kind of thrill, no information gained but entertained. After the Iraq war I realized that I was giving them ratings, and completely stopped watching until the re-election of President Obama whereby I clicked on the channel just to see the reaction.

 

It has nothing to do with race or ethnicity. You do know that you can disagree with a man for other things than race. Everyone thinks Republicans don't like Obama because he's black...I don't like Obama because of the way he runs the country.

 

Conservative talk shows do not dominate in television. Apart from Fox News, there is no other medium. Obama not only gets positive feedback from MSNBC, Current, and CNBC. He also gets covered on entertainment shows, sports shows, etc. There is a reason it is called the "liberal media".

Both Fox News and MSNBC give a very hard bias for their political affiliation. So let's not pretend that MSNBC is reporting unbiased facts. I physically get nauseous watching Rachel Maddow and Al Sharpton talk.

Maybe its because they don't like him as person, maybe is because he has big ears, maybe it's because he is from Chicago...etc. I just stated that the Republicans have been behaving irrationally, and at times even going against their own ideas when Obama endorses them. Since their goal was to make him a one term President, that strategy made some crazy sense, but now it's time to start working with the President and not against him.
