I'm a little behind the times with this one, but it was too funny not to share! http://www.colbertnation.com/the-colbert-report-videos/388583/june-06-2011/paul-revere-s-famous-ride
Too funny! I'm just not sure which is worse though; the sexting Weiner, or the rewrite of established American history that seems to occur from certain politicians. And too think...they actually have supporters! :smt102
I'd read about the Wikipedia stuff that Colbert was talking about before. It's a funny (but sad!) twist in the whole saga. They would change Wikipedia to fit her crazy version of history? And if what she says matches what's on Wikipedia, it doesn't make it any more correct.... it's Wikipedia! This is one of many reasons why I tell students never to cite Wikipedia, though it is not the biggest one. I hope you all got on there and edited the entry for "bells."
Covering up stupidity, with dishonesty. Her followers live in fantasy land. They thought they can change history,LOL!
Then who did? The British used German mercenaries who were called Hessians to fight for them. They helped British troops fight American troops in the Revolutionary War. General Washington defeated them all.
Yes, but his name was etched because it has a more "American" sounding and less to do with his personal story. That's why when the story of Paul Revere was written, he was considered more of a symbol than someone who's name is like a Jewish Vacuum Cleaner. The Jewish guy deserves all the credit in other words. And for the record, Bissell was Jewish. And Paul Revere only rode 19 miles.
I wish he does this every year. People really like having him around. But then again, you need time to drudge up more historical bits.
