People are obsessed because it is about finding satisfaction. This, however, isn't revenge, or even justice(but they think it is). It serves as an antidote to calm the victim's nerves. The offender is in prison and will never see the light of day again. But, if they really knew what goes on in prison other than what is shown in the movies or on tv, they might have a change of heart. On the other side of the coin, prison inmates have advantages that we on the outside wish we had. The inmates can have free medical care, a chance to go to college(online) and get a college degree, learn other trades, access to a law library and even record an album. If the inmate gets out, he would have learned a great deal and would be able to survive on the outside(if he chooses to stay out. Other inmates go back in because they are used to the environment). All this is paid for by us, the tax payers. I think the joke is on them. And the issue of HIV/AIDS, the inmates call it Ninja because HIV/AIDS is a silent killer.
