Harold Ford Jr.-a politician from Tennesse- recently got engaged to his white girlfriend. He has caught flack from black and white people. He has dated ww and bw before-but has seemed to prefer ww. Some black authors have actually stated he should have picked a bw-as this would make him more "electable" in the future for certain positions! Absolutely unbelievable!!!!!!!!!

Those Black authors wouldn't say shit if Ford were a BW married to a WM.

It will never end, I hope that one politician who said racism was over when barac obama won the iowa caucus because was all white. You can't go by just that to decide it. Racism is apart of evil and evil never dies.

There are a multitude of possible explanations as to why those "authors" would make that comment..

growing up in a mostly white area when i was younger, i was always advised to leave white women alone. I was told this for my own benefit, as people were getting assaulted ( people that I knew among others ) for being black. In this case, the authors could be advising him to "stay black," to make his political career easier (incase you don't know, the majority of the us is still controlled by white people..some who probably can't stand to see interracial coupling..the same goes for many voters). In a case like this, people aren't viewing anything "wrong" with the character of white women; they're just afraid of what the repercussions would be, from other people that were against IR grouping.

Or, maybe they're saying that for more negative reasons, just because they do not want to see a black guy marry a white woman, period.

All i'm asking for, is just for some of you to look at that above statement, from different perspectives..

Hm, interesting notion you bring up. But to me it seems the bottom line is this>>>>people are so closed minded they refuse to understand that not everyone thinks like them. Voters should focus on who they think can do the job, and not who is marrying who,,,lmao,,how stupid can people be??..Even if i were the most racist guy in the world, theres no way id dismiss a guy that could do a good job due to personal reasons....lol....fuckin idiots

As for the authors. WHO THE HELL CARES??..so the guy is marying a fuckin white woman, booo fuckin hoo. Shes just a fuckin woman,,,well maybe she gives good bj..but shes just a fuckin woman,,well maybe shes a freak..but shes just a fuckin woman,,,,lol...

Ford should not be told whom to marry. I would think those comments were made by those who still have personal grudges against whites after dealing with what they had to ordeal in the 60s.

Politically speaking though, Ford did make a wrong move. He should have known better, he's from the deep South. They don't play that down there period. Barack probably knew early on that he couldn't be elected dog catcher if he married a WW. A nice black family makes everybody more comfortable.

Thank you for perpetuating the "us and them" mentality. :smt011 Why can't America, as a whole, leave personal lives out of politics?

Ford has the right to marry whomever he wants. Sure he will never be a elected pol but, he is happy. As for those authors-"Jump in the Lake"!

I agree soulthinker. At least he is happy and not letting others make decisions for him! That is what I call a real man!

Most people who want to be politicians plan their whole lives for it. Hope his wife is worth his public career. I wonder if she'd do the same if their roles were reversed.

Why can't the world just get a grip and realize we all bleed red blood. I hate racism with a passion. You cant help who you fall in love with if you dont follow your heart and only your head you will never truelly be happy. Im a WW dating a BM and its really upsetting getting wierd looks from people, I try not to let it bother me because my bf doesn't care what people think especially. And I shouldn't let it bother me since we are in such a diverse area but I think thats what is what makes it more upsetting is leaving around so many different races but people still having this thought processes

One drop rule still in effect I see......Latinos probably think we are crazy. Only in the U.S. would Harold Ford Jr. be seen as "black". Nothing wrong with having a well heeled, educated politician on "our" side but it's not like we are talking about Wesley Snipes marrying Gwyneth Paltrow...(stark visual contrast)....and if Harold Ford had hidden chemistry talents and discovered cures for AIDS and Cancer on the same day...I tend to think that people wouldn't go out of their way to call him black...and probably wouldn't care if he married a white woman....since they'd claim he was almost white anyway.

    Harold Ford's dad...Harold Sr.

Why not see this from a diffrent perspective? He proberly thought alot about engaging with this WW before he aksed her to marry him, and he knows that there´s gonna be consequences, and huges ones too...
But inspite of that he married her, he must love her very much....

    It´s romantic!!!!!!!!! :smt055
