Readers show knowledge gap, hunger for bridges

I just saw this article in the Chicago Tribune. I thought it could open up a new dialogue and it may prove to be an interesting topic to discuss in your every day lives, or here.

you truly are living up to your name, in a slightly modified sense anyway

and you are definitely giving props to your hometown


"In starting this exploration, I wrote that I wanted it to go beyond the white-black model to include everybody, Asian-Americans, Hispanics, Native Americans. That's still true. While I received a lot of e-mails from a lot of different people in recent days, the overwhelming majority has been from blacks and whites asking each other questions"

Usually when the issue of race in america comes up, the majority of the time it's between blacks and whites. I understand her desire for other races to join in on the issue. Too bad there weren't more of those non-black/white responders.

And that's how I read the paper in the morning, through my inbox. I saw this article and thought it was an interesting topic. I think more dialogues like these could only help this country get past the racial issues that still clearly pop up. I know it's not going to happen overnight, but if it helps even one person, then it's worth it, right?
